Give the dog a bone

Keeping Alex entertained during a prolonged bout of bad weather is a challenge.

She has destroyed every single one of the delightful toys sent to her by friends far and wide.

So I've given up on buying her toys and tried one of these dental care Nylabones.

She loves it, has yet to destroy it, and would chew it 24/7 were it not for one thing...

...respect for alpha Smooch.

Alex: It sucks to be me.

Me: I'll buy you another one or twelve the next time we go out.

  2. I have learned the hard way, if I find something useful etc that is not a big ticket item, I buy two.
Clothing, socks, kitchen stuff, gardening stuff, small tools etc.

Inevitably if I find something I like, it won't be on the shelf next month / of a few months later.
It's not just the misplacing or breakage, it will wear out and when I go to look for a replacement , there is nothing comparable. If you have a good product/design ... why mess it up or discontinue it?

With your situation, it's like having two kids. Better make sure they both have sometime to keep themselves busy , even if the 'toys' are not identical. Do they still make those KONG toys?

  5. Our pup, Bodie, is now a year old. He, too, has destroyed EVERY TOY I've bought him. I just give up. He gets canned cheese in a Kong Ball and treats from Trader Joe's. Oh, and he loves to SLOBBER on the cat!

  6. Our two loved the Nylabones too. But our alpha girl would hoard them all, no matter how many we had. Hope Smooch shares better. I know you are ready to be done with the snow, but WOW the pictures have been beautiful. Lisa G in TN (where it is oddly in the 60's today!)

  9. Alex is so cute. Her sister, Lyric has also destroyed all her toys that I’ve gotten her since i first adopted her and when her brother, Vernon has one she runs in and grabs it. He lets her.

  10. My girl, Abby, destroys all toys too! I've found that toys made from fire hoses stand up well. I also use old socks braided together (tightly), they are easy to wash, hard to tear apart, and I thrown them away when she wears them out. She only chews the sock toys that I give her and never the ones that gget left on the floor.

  12. Try a JollyBall. I got our from Tractor Supply. Steve, 135 pounds, loved his. It held up for a long time. Black Lab Purdy loves hers, too. It is still going strong. Love your photos.

  14. That last photo made me LOL!! Sure hope you have made the trip to town already. Question for you or any of your readers who are familiar with instagram - I can see what you post on Instagram but have not signed up so cannot comment, that's ok for now but what are the two photos below for - what exactly are stories and why can I not see those as well? Forgive my ignorance, seems you need grandkids to keep up with the 21st century (or really savvy friends - hi Danni!)
