It should come as no surprise

It probably comes as no surprise to any of you
that Alex no longer sleeps in the crate that used to be an armoire.

She now sleeps in my bed, curled tightly against my back,

sometimes under the covers, depending on how cold it is.

We asked Smooch for permission before the transition,
and she was okay with it. Smooch still prefers sleeping in her easy chair
next to the bed but will sometimes join us, putting me in the middle.
Think mom sandwich.
Good thing the bed is big enough, because the couch isn't.

  1. I love seeing your firm principles crumbling one after the other... when you were away, Smooch slept with me, and even though it was far from my first time sleeping with a dog, it was the first time the dog joined me under the covers! lol

  2. Ah, love it! Just the way it should be. Have to say, I am surprised that her ears haven't stood up yet. So darn cute! Lisa G in TN

  3. Good to see an update on the goings on at 7MSN. Lucky, lucky pooches, they both hit the big time when they came to live with you. Love all your pillows. Rebecca2

  5. All is as it should be. At our house, Doppler (German shorthair) reserves the right to sleep under the covers against my husband’s back at will.

  7. Awwww....
Try sleeping with a dog next to you and a cat on top of you. There is peace on the bed, but once the two of them are off, ALL BETS are off too!

  8. Nothing like sleeping with a dog curled up against you! My dog also liked to get under the covers, but could only last there a short while because he got too hot and would come out panting. Glad Alex finally graduated from the crate!

  11. Alex is appropriately pleased with her upgrade in sleeping quarters. Smooch is a good girl. Love the pics.

  12. Of course she does!! That's where dogs belong.... I only had one dog who liked to get under the covers (he curled up behind my knees) and he got very disgruntled in the summer when there were no covers to get under. Such great pics of Alex and Smooch! /Gretchen

  13. How sweet. At least they aren't Great Pyrenees. You would be on the floor.

  15. I sleep (blissfully) in a reclining chair these days, instead of my bed. My daughter-in-law's 45 lb Aussie often sleeps in my lap, one cat by my ear and the other on my legs. I love it. We snore in harmony.
