Alex's meet and greet with Smooch went great.
I'll give them both a few days to get comfortable with each other
from opposite sides of the pen before we take the next step.
Meanwhile, Alex is learning one of her first important skills – posing for the camera.
We're still working on the "don't look so worried" part.
So cute!
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope you're able to get some sleep tonight, that Alex doesn't cry. It looks like she has several soft toys for snuggling if she needs that. She's a lot cuter than her namesake! I've seen him on TV several times since winning the Stanley Cup.
ReplyDeleteVery worried but vv cute!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Alex, may your life be a grand one!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me so happy to see Alex at home with Smooch and you. And Smooch wagging that tail when first meeting Alex.
ReplyDeleteOmg she is sooo adorable, I can’t stand it!
ReplyDeleteSmooches tail was wagging...good sign!
Going great so far! She is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new addition! Alex is so cute! I am sure over time that worried look will turn to a major happy look and the two of them will be romping through the pasture together. :)

Seeing Smooch go with her nose and ignoring that calm pup was so good...OOooops, that's where she is!
ReplyDeleteThe meet and greet went fine, but what's next on the agenda? We all will be waiting for playtime in the playpen in front of Smooch. Yah, she looks better, but not as covered with champagne as her namesake.
I too was very happy to see Smooch's tail wagging when she met Alex. Such good dogs, both of them! Alex has no idea that she hit the jackpot coming to the ranch to live with all of you! /Gretchen
ReplyDeleteshe truly does have "worried pup" look. Hopefully she'll start getting comfortable enough to show us a smile soon.
ReplyDeleteAww she is so cute! I've seen that same worried look on my dogs when they first came to live with us. She will figure out pretty quickly that she is now living in paradise!
ReplyDeleteSmooch and Alex have to be the cutest dogs on the internet! Movie star looks are shared by both of them. Alex sure seems calm for a puppy!
ReplyDeleteShe is sooooo cute! (Smooch is too of course!)
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!
ReplyDeleteGood girl, Smoochie-poo!
Poor "worried" Alex! ha ha! I hope she feels comfortable soon.
I'm sure Smooch will teach her all the great things about living with you! ;)
They will do fine! Smooch is doing great. You might want to put a ticking alarm clock near Alex at bedtime . It mimics the heart beat of mama and litter mates. Hahaha no new pup owner sleeps solidly the first night, you want to keep.checking the pup.
ReplyDeleteShe’s adorable! Smooch looks curious and happily wagging her tail at the meet and greet. I’m sure she’ll get the hang of posing with a less worried look😊
ReplyDeleteSuch a serious little face! She is trying to figure all this out.......
ReplyDeleteEnfin la voilà! a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteVery good looking dog! What type of breed?
ReplyDeleteWhat a pair of sweeties you have! 💕🎉🍾
ReplyDeleteSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Holy crap she's cute. And judging by the tail wag, I think Smooch is going to like her sister.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, what a adorable face, and to Smooch for being such a good girl!
ReplyDeletejust open the pen... Smooch showed excellent welcoming behavior and nothing will sooth Alex more than being cuddled and groomed by a big dog that knows how everyting works around your place. They are absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteElsewhere from Amsterdam
she is so beautiful and looks so sad and scared
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, sweet Alex! Everything’s going to be just fine, I promise. I’ve never seen such a calm, self-possessed little pup! Holy smokes, I think she had the perfect composure for a first meeting with Smooch - so funny how Smooch didn’t even notice her until she was right next to her!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, photogenic is an understatement!
So happy for you <3

I don't think you have a thing to be worried about. They'll be fast friends in no time!
ReplyDeleteThat face! What a cutie. This is going to be so much fun watching her become part of the family.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and Smooch could almost be giving a fist pump - dogs 2 cat 1!
ReplyDeleteSo ahhdorable. This is gonna be fun. Smooch will love her and teach her all the good stuff she needs to know to be a great ranch dog.
ReplyDeleteAdorable little girl!!! Yowzers, love at first sight. Smooch is so expressive -- her first thought was "WHAT is that?????? Is it staying??" Then she figured out it's a baby dog. I can't wait for the playing and napping together photos. Coming soon!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I think this is a good idea. We lost our beloved Ripley on May 5th and were without a dog for a whole month. Then, on our trip up the Owens Valley and eastern Sierra Nevada, we stopped at a shelter in Big Pine and the previous day, they had brought in a 6 month old lab mix, same coloration as Ripley, but a male. Hubby was immediately drawn to him and after checking out all the dogs there, we applied to adopt him. We had rented a NON-PET FRIENDLY cabin for 4 nights, so they sent him to the vet for neutering and his rabies' shot and we picked him up on our way home. He slept on top of hubby's lap the entire trip home (5 hours and I only made 1 potty stop!). He has been introduced to our indoor cat and just ignores her, although he occasionally does sleep on her! OF COURSE he sleeps on our bed, right between us! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll she is . . . but, oh, what a worried little face she's showing. It's a whole new world and she's just so unsure. Time will settle the dust and you'll soon see a happy little face for sure. Has Smooch spent much time around other dogs? As I'm sure you're already aware, jealousy can be a big factor here. Just let Smoooch know she's still #1 and always will be. :-)
