I love Mondays. They give me an excuse to sit down after a chore-filled weekend.
On the left, we have my concrete floor before the weekend started.
On the right, we have that same floor today, after removing the furniture from each room,
vacuuming, mopping, resealing, waiting for the sealer to dry, resealing again,
then moving the furniture back.

It had been seven years since I'd last resealed (and blogged about) the floors.
Smooch: You shouldn't have waited so long.
Regular upkeep would probably make the job go faster.
Me: Dogs who expect to go for a long walk every day

Smooch is right, though. I really need to make time to do this more often.
The house feels so clean and brand new.
And if somebody would keep her dog hair and dirt to herself, it might stay this way.

Looks great! What brand of sealer did you use? Does it have strong fumes and how long do you have to wait to put "traffic" on it?

It's called On an' On from Spartan. Dry time here in the desert is 30 - 40 minutes.
DeleteOh...and the stuff has a slight ammonia scent when it's being applied but it's not strong at all.

DeleteOh, I love that feeling when you have finished cleaning and everything looks shiny new, too bad it doesn't last long, lol. Your place looks fabulous, as usual. Time for a party - got any guests coming soon? Question, now that you have lived with concrete floors for a while, could you list the pros and cons?

DeleteYour floor is gorgeous; but contemplating the amout of work it entailed gives me a headache. But appreciating a bright, clean floor is not high on a dog's list of Important Items.

ReplyDeleteI too love the look and benefits of concrete floors - and remember the 1950's home in Phoenix being exactly like this. The two things I experience though that were NOT awesome were (1). If something drops - it shatters. Into one billion pieces. However - this is also true if you have tile. (2). Standing on it for long periods of time (like 6 hours, because you are a crazy ex-chef - and cannot cook quick meals), will kill you. However, this is pretty easy to remedy with restaurant style cushioned floor mats.
