Lucy and Ethel take the herd to town

It's been a week since we took George, Alan and Lucy to town
for their vet checkups.

I've finally recovered enough to share the story.

It was all good and everybody's healthy, save for me,
who aged at least another five years from the stress.

Lucy, ever the perfect role model, went first
and had her teeth floated and ears checked for ticks...without sedation!
George went next, but his checkup was undocumented.
I think Ethel, the photographer, was still a little shook up laughing
from the part where the vet stuck a needle in George's vein
and he leaped into the air and spun around (George, not the vet),
knocking me flat on my ass.

Alan did not flinch for his shot of sedative and was most appreciative
of the pharmaceutical assistance.

Alan: I'm adorable even when I'm high.

 Nothing to see here.
Moving on...

This is Alan having his ears checked for ticks.
And the verdict is...

*** drumroll ***

No ticks! And the same was true for Lucy and George.
Upon our vet's recommendation two years ago,
everybody has gotten a weekly application of Frontline Flea and Tick Spray in their ears.
The stuff works.

  1. Glad everybody survived. I can't imagine how traumatic that must have been for all. Super glad you had backup/support from Ethel. Well done. It is my humble opinion that large animal vets should do house calls. Just sayin'.

    1. Ah, generally they do...but it adds to the cost. I'm 18 miles from my clinic, and the call is nearly $100 extra, so I can imagine the exorbitant cost to go to Carson's place!

  5. All's well that ends well. Healthy herd is a fine outcome. Almost worth getting knocked flat. Two out of three well behaved angels is a pretty good.

  6. I can't imagine the stress you must be under transporting your beloved herd, watching and hoping for the best from the check ups and making the trek back to 7MSN again. Whew, you're a very strong lady and I know having a buddy along made the effort if not easier, at least more enjoyable.

  8. You remembered the "drumroll" before the tick report, but you forgot the cymbals after.. Oh well, it's still good news. Now, here's hoping the report on any bruises on what you fell on turns out okay. And here's hoping your nerves have recovered by now. If not, have another margarita.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well and had a good check-up!
It's good you had a few extra hands to help you, especially when you got knocked down! ;)
