I didn't know it at the time, but I embarked upon a home semi-makeover
in mid-December, when I decided to improve the lighting in my kitchen.
One of the many things that has been affected by that decision
is the light fixture over the dining room table. I needed wanted a new one.
I ordered it from Pottery Barn, and because living in the middle of nowhere means
never knowing where your UPS packages will be delivered,
I had it sent to a friend's house in Albuquerque.
That gave me an excuse to take Friday off from work to pick it up.
And go to lunch with a friend. And then do about a half dozen other fun things,
for which I was punished with a flat tire the second I got home,
but that's a story for another time.
Anyway, early New Year's Eve afternoon, I embarked upon the installation
of the new light fixture. It was not fun. The wiring part was easy,
the toggle bolts in the ceiling were not. The installation
did not span into the new year, but it was close.
Let there be lights...
...lights without chains.
Your new lights are awesome, Linda! Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented. It all looks fantastic !!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that fixture is awesome and looks so good there. Job well done Carson!
ReplyDeleteI love it and it is perfect for your home. great job installing and buying....
ReplyDeleteI like it. Half a dozen fun things? Sounds like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love getting to see your house also. Bonus points for no chains and getting the whole thing squared up. Has to be a bit of a smile each time you turn it on....."hey, I did that"..feeling is a good one. Lisa G in TN
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like hearing about your fun day in ABQ.
ReplyDeleteA New Years Eve very well spent! And the activities leading up to it were likely long overdue (except for the flat). Happy New Light Year!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very nice. DIY is a pain but in the end, a successful installation brings us great pleasure. Congrats on your home improvements.
ReplyDeleteI was worried at first that those naked bulbs would be harsh - but they almost look like candlelight! Did you buy them separately? did they come with the fixture? are they expensive?
ReplyDeleteThe bulbs weren't included. Pottery Barn sold some for $25 each. NFW. So I bought these on Amazon for $7 each (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01545WAFS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). They're ok, but the color they give off is a weird yellow so I'll probably exchange them.
DeleteElegant. Good job. Sorry about the tire.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! HNY! Aunt Jean
ReplyDeleteLove the new lights. Glad you were able to spend time with a friend in "Burque but boo on the flat tire. Great job with the lighting update. We've done similar here at Casa de Cuckoos, even getting new living room furniture delivered today. Yay
ReplyDeleteClassy!
ReplyDeleteit looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like those! Nice job.
ReplyDeleteExceptional!
ReplyDeleteGeorgeous lighting! Both kitchen and dining room. And no wires make me happy too, but I have to pay good money to get that ... hat off to you. And love the wooden beam between the living area and dining room, you have a really lovely home there.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Them, but then you already knew that! I also really like the rearrangment of the furniture.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you were home when you had the flat...
I would be crying, you just get it done!
Love the lights!! Glad you got to spend time with a friend and do fun things. Boo on the flat tire though.

Fabulous! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe straight hang is a big improvement, & I love the shades because they look like wine glasses!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I like how the kitchen counter lights compliment them. Another job well done!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Another job well done, what's next???
ReplyDeleteNew light looks maaahvelous! Good selection.
ReplyDeleteThe lights look great!
ReplyDeleteFunny how even the simplest project has a way of dominoing into a series projects and none of them turn out to be simple.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! (Sorry, I was sick in bed all through the year end/new years...)
Your new lights are great - perfect fit for your decor.
ReplyDeleteYour home is so lovely.
Ohhhh myyyy. It's beautiful. I love it. I also love that they look high enough from the table that no klutzy guest of yours will (repeatedly) hit their head on it every time they stand up. cough, cough
ReplyDeleteyour house looks so warm and comfy. I wish I had a home out in the middle of nowhere... from Austin Texas..
ReplyDeleteSWEEET!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know how you held this large fixture up against the ceiling with one hand and wires attached in order to fasten it to the ceiling. Did you "use your head", literally? Did you pull the fixture up to the ceiling using a wire in the attic? So impressive how much you are getting done lately, it all looks so nice!
