Smooch's lumpy adventure

Except for a few ripped dewclaws and one altercation with a saber-toothed squirrel,
Smooch has led a remarkably healthy, vet-visit-free life. But in this, her eleventh year,
she developed several bumps and lumps which I've been keeping an eye on, and
this week it came time to have them removed.

There were five in all, the two pointed out above
and three along her right side.

I dropped her off at the clinic Wednesday morning to spend the day.
She was not pleased. She came home Wednesday night, still very drunk.
I took this video Thursday morning:

The cone is not her friend.

Smooch: How in the hell am I supposed to do my job if I can't see out the door?

Where there's a will, there's a way.

  1. Glad Smooch is at home and recovering. This getting old crap is not for the faint of heart, human or canine!

Been waiting to hear! When you were in TorC did you get a chance to scope it out with regard to retirement?

    1. I looked around town a little bit, then imagined the hordes of people arriving every weekend in the summer to go to Elephant Butte Lake, then crossed it off my list.

    2. Hordes of weekenders/tourists would ruin paradise for me, too - but worse, because outright dangerous, is this kind of people: https://romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.de/
(Today's post, "Frustrated". And another, similar post a few days ago. And more of the same, about a bunch of aggressive vagrants, a couple of months or so ago. Sad. Sorry if this makes choosing your retirement haven even harder.)

  15. Comfy Cone? Are they kidding? It may not be stiff plastic, but it sure isn't comfortable for Smooch. Poor girl. She deserves lots of treats for letting you put that thing on her and letting you show us all her sore spots. I hope she heals quickly and can walk without pain.

  17. Yes, as we all age we endure the indignity of odd things growing here & there on our bodies. Bet JCC is loving this - laughing his whiskers off!

Get well soon Smooch; don't forget to let mom know that you will be needing big beefy bones to keep those teeth clean, not the ones she brings home from her rides, but ones that she gets from the butcher. Plus it might keep your mind off those itchy stitches. oh yeah, tell her that Vit E. will speed up the healing and keep the itchin' down. :)
