  1. That's interesting. I've always wondered about this - why isn't Smooch allowed to hang out with the donkey crew?

    1. When dogs and equines are together, I think it's just a matter of time before a hoof meets a head. I've never been willing to take that risk with any of my dogs.

  2. Smooch is serious about everything she does, even her digging. She's like the gold prospectors around here. They don't want anyone near their digging either.

  3. Smooch is so sweet...And apparently she wants to go to China.

  5. Good to keep Smooch out of reach of those hooves, as you wrote.

  6. I had a near miss with a hoof myself on Saturday. My thoroughbred mare knocked me down when she spooked at her corral gate. She stood beside me while I gathered my wits (it took a LONG time and my hands were cut and I was shaking). Then, I saw her right leg go up and I threw the lead rope at her and yelled "NO!"...I couldn't get up in time, but I HAD to move her off. She went to the far corner of her corral and stood there until I was able to get back up on my feet...Yes, those hooves can be deadly. I'm hobbling around on a sprained ankle now and have cuts all over my right arm...

  7. Sometimes a girl just needs some privacy and a good dig.
