I first met Steve on the day I moved in, October 5, 2005.
He was walking up the driveway, and a friend who was helping me with the move
saw him and put him in the bed of my truck so nobody would run him over.
He stops by at least once a year to remind me he was here first
and I damned well better be taking good care of the place.
Steve is not shy about voicing his opinions.
Since we've been on a first-name basis for almost 11 years,
I didn't think he'd mind me picking him up.
Me: Next time you're in the vicinity, ring this bell
and I'll be sure to come out and say hello.
and I'll be sure to come out and say hello.
your cute neighbour! maybe he was asking for some fresh lettuce leaves
ReplyDeleteHow do you know it is Steve and not Stevette, or steve jr?
ReplyDeleteI can recognize him by the white scars on his shell.
DeleteGlad to know that Steve is still coming around for visits.
ReplyDeleteSteve is a little guy. He looks so much bigger on the ground. Does the appearance of Steve mean company's coming?
ReplyDeleteJust making rounds, checking on things. Love these visits.
ReplyDelete(smile). Nice post.
ReplyDeleteHEY STEVE!!!
ReplyDeleteFavorite turtle ever!
ReplyDeleteYay Steve! So cool that he visited...I was just thinking of getting a turtle myself. Bigger than the ones I use to have. I think he should be framed and hung on the wall ( photo not actually Steve)
ReplyDeleteLove Steve, but then I am a turtleaholic.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! He hans't grown much in all these years. Hopefully when you move the new owners will appreciate him.
ReplyDeleteCute li'l ET face! And look at Smooch sitting so nicely when told to.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that? Your very own visiting turtle. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, Steve! So glad he's still doing walk-abouts!
ReplyDeleteHi Steve!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how old he is now?! Nice to see him come by for a visit!! =)
PS - I'm going on a short diving vacation from Thursday to Sunday, so please don't worry if you don't "see" me!! ;)
I named my frequent box turtle visitor, Myrtle. Then I found out she was a he but couldn't think of a boys name that rhymed with turtle so Myrtle the Turtle has an identity crisis! =o)
ReplyDelete(Everyone now) HI STEVE! Love Steve, so glad he checked in on his property you're borrowing...
ReplyDeleteSteve! Long time no see! How's the turtle business? Same as always, slow?
ReplyDeleteI think it takes him a year to walk around 7MSN.
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on posts. Have been out of the loop. Love how you can make me laugh! You have a real gift for celebrating the little things in life.
