A little smoke and a little snake

There's a wildfire burning about 70 miles southwest of here,
and the smoke from it has been settling over the 7MSN.

Except for the occasional panic attack when I smell it and think my pasture is on fire,
it's not bothersome...

...and the photo ops have been spectacular as the sun slowly sets in the smoky sky.

Today's post is being brought to you by the letter S, as if you couldn't tell.

  5. Hahahaha...if only we could say: "Today's post is brought to you by the letter "S" (for Squirrel)!" They are eating us out of house, home and sunflower seeds. Don't say it folks, we've tried it all. The barbed wire wrapped feeders help a little. They have learned how to like their Crisco tainted with my cayenne plus other hot stuff. Mothballs... HMMph! (had to make sure to hide them in the ground from the birds. I don't like using the BB gun. I can't aim well or pull far enough back with the slingshot I just bought. If it's on the internet, I've tried it. Oh...the Hav-a-Hart rat trap worked for two out of five. They take a running smash into the door corner and POOF they're gone (yes, Jim has put heavy weights on the corners). The dang hairy-tailed tree rats may have even found their way back from the far corner of 32 acres. I wish y'all knew how many walnut trees we have on those acres! *lol* WAIT...A MOAT! Now there's a thought. *sound of wheels turning in brain*

  6. Smoky air might be kind of icky but it sure makes for pretty photos! I like snakes, so wrangling them woudn't gross me out -- though I'm impressed at what good shape you're in; looks like a loooong walk, carrying snake & temp home, to the gate. Didn't seem to faze you at all.

  7. Lovely photos. First snake of the season? I hope for a less-snakey summer for you!

  8. Beautiful smoky skies, but you keep them over there (well at least far away from your home). I cannot take another horrific fire season like the one we had last year in Northern California. You crack me up. You are so cheerful releasing that snake! I do not know how you do it. Have wonderful weekend! Supposed to be 95 degrees here!
