Mirror, mirror, on the wall...

When I posted about the guest bathroom light fixture modifications last week,
Rebecca2 asked for a picture of the mirror and its frame.

How have I not blogged about this before?
It's near the top of my favorite-things-in-the-house list.
I had it made by a local woman, Phyllis Kubena, who specializes in barnwood picture frames.
I explained what I was looking for, provided the measurements of the boring bathroom mirror...

...and gave her four special horseshoes for the corners:
one from Emmy Lou (my first horse), Lyle (Emmy Lou's son),
Hank, and a mystery mule who lost his shoe while walking across
the front 40 many years ago, which I was lucky enough to find.

Lucy's shoe was not part of the original design but I couldn't resist adding it.
Such a dainty little foot compared to Hank's.

Anyway, I love the details of the frame,
like the bent horseshoe nails used to fasten the barbed wire...

...and the name of the ranch burned into the wood.

Next to the mirror is another of my favorite things,
this tin sign which hangs over the toilet.
I suppose male guests might notice it more often than others...
lest they not forget who's boss.

  11. I like to see a farm/ranch name somewhere on the property. Preferably multiple times.
Your bathroom takes that to a whole 'nother level.
