Last February, I placed an order with a local chicken farmer for three chickens.
I didn't need new chickens, I just wanted a few who would lay pretty turquoise-ish eggs.
Apparently everybody else in New Mexico wanted those pretty eggs, too, because
it took eight months for my order to be fulfilled. I picked them up on Saturday.
They are nine weeks old and nameless. Here is part one of their homecoming.
Ah, yes. Eggs are a gift, but GREEN eggs are an extra present!

ReplyDeleteYou'll have to show us the first blue eggs in your basket. They are pretty young things and soon they will grow and we won't recognize them. I hope they produce after all these months of waiting. Good Luck with the newbies.

ReplyDeleteLove that the herd are all clustered as far away from them as they can get! They look to be as brave as my four. We had a few little pigs 'visit' our place a few weeks back... And they managed to chase the donkeys everywhere!

ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see what happens when you integrate the new girls. I got a fresh set of chicklets this spring, and despite my best efforts, I now have a maxi-flock and a mini-flock. Interestingly, the lowest girl on the totem pole of the maxi-flock has appointed herself overlord of the mini-flock. :D
ReplyDeleteToo cute cuties!! Except that they seem to like those tiny spaces, like in between the fence and the gate! I hope they realize the pig palace is the safest place to be!
