Today marks two years since the feral beast joined the family.
I solemnly vowed back then that I would not get attached to him under any circumstances...
...because he was a working cat with a job...
...and he was not supposed to be friendly...
...and he was not supposed to like people.
He was supposed to be a barn cat.
And he is.
But he's also very friendly, and he loves people, and you all were absolutely right
when you said I would get attached to him.
You: I told you so!
Me: Now climb down here so I give you a great big hug.
(purring sound)
ReplyDeleteI love how he doesn't want to stray far from you...he prob said the same thing..." I will not get attached to her!" :-)
ReplyDeleteNow that's a thought! But, like Carson, in the end (like, after ten minutes?) JohnnyCC had to submit to the "force majeure" of whole-hearted affection... :)
DeleteEveen if he didn't like people or donkeys, wasn't affectionate, kept to the perimeters of the barn and house during the day, you would still have loved him for being his Catness and so photogenic!
ReplyDeleteOrange kitties will do that :-).
ReplyDeleteWhat Farmer Barb said. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course you know that cats plan it this way. They try their darnedest to worm their way into our hearts by acting all cuddly and adorable. But in reality it is all a plot....a plot to make us more loyal servants!!
ReplyDeleteGood lord, my heart skipped a beat! My first thought when I saw your title and first photo was that he was gone. Huge sigh of relief and happy post. Has it already been 2 years??
ReplyDeleteI say, Johnny knows it's a jungle out there, and he is way too alert at all times, and cautious, to be "gone"; no sound escapes him... he will put in another, ohhh, 16, 17 feral years at The 7MSN Ranch, yes he will! ;)
DeleteWe all knew you were delusional when you said you would not get attached, after all who knows you better than your readers? :) We too are owned by an orange cat who came here as a stray and has moved right in and now bosses the dog around as well as us! BTW, there are a lot of contrails in your skies, does that go on all day, every day?
ReplyDeleteThere sure were a lot of contrails when I took these Sunday morning. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. Maybe it depends on where the sun is at the time? The planes are too high up to hear them.
DeleteAwwwwww! Give him a big hug for me. He was still pretending to be feral when I was there!
ReplyDeletekitty lovers cannot change their stripes, spots or fur.........what Farmer Barb said
ReplyDeleteThat's the best "I told you so" ever!
ReplyDelete😸
ReplyDeleteGulp. I got death on my mind these days. Your title came up "You told me so" and while the rest of the page was slow to load, I thought "Oh my god! Something's happened to Johnny and she's devastated!" Then I read your post in a hurry and breathed a sigh of relief. Don't you scare me like that!
ReplyDeleteHe has a really interesting tail doesn't he?
I'm so glad you are now owned by that wild feral beast with the spectacular tail...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Johnny! He is such a lucky cat to be adopted by you. When I've rescued my animals and I don't know their b-day, I just celebrate it on the day I got them.
ReplyDelete<<<< big grin >>>>>
ReplyDeleteHow could you possibly think you had any chance of not getting attached to a gorgeous orange cat like that? One look at that face and you knew that was impossible!
ReplyDeleteits amazing how they change our lives
ReplyDeleteJohnny is a handsome fella, how could you not fall in love with him :)
ReplyDeleteWow two years already? I like Johnny Cashcat's antics and will look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteUnder that tough outer shell lies a big softy! :-}
ReplyDeletewhich shell are you talking about? the tabby one or the blond one?
DeleteOMG. Two years! Where has the time gone? That means I have been reading your blog for SIX! I better get back to work now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm with Carla, cathie and Laura -- has it really been two years? It seems like you just brought him home. So...enquiring minds want to know...is he a good mouser?
ReplyDeleteHe is a mouser extraordinaire. I just wish he wouldn't leave the carcasses on my doorstep.
Deletethat means he is a cat extraordinaire, paying tribute to you, his adored master
DeleteI'm with the others who say "two years already?" Time goes fast when you're in such adorable company.
ReplyDeleteha haha now you have all your readers purring!!! we love you Johnny, Happy Birthday to you sweet boy!
ReplyDeleteWhat?? Two years already? Time flies on a great blog. Congrats to both of you - a match made in heaven.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2nd Anniversary! I'm glad JCC is friendly! I think he knows he's living the good life! ;)
ReplyDeleteHe's so handsome <3
ReplyDeleteThat tail!! It just slays me!!
ReplyDeleteOne of a million and what kind of person!
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on trying to tame our two little feral cats. They really don't like people AT ALL. However, yesterday morning, I caught the little tabby one playing with the dog's tail, which was sticking through their enclosure. Time...time will tell!
ReplyDeleteCheryl Ann
the title of this post could be : Contrails vs Cattail
ReplyDeleteAww two years already! Seems like yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHow can you not get attached to the furry critter. ;o)
