Smooch still hasn't found what she's looking for...

...and she probably never will, but it's always fun to watch her try.

Great form! She always looks so clean, even after all this digging. Is she just one of those clean dogs, or am I idealizing her, Carson?

    1. The dirt here is clean, if that makes any sense. Her version of a bath is a dust off/pat down by me before she comes in the house.

  2. Well, she did find a human who doesn't mind dog-sized holes in the yard, and that's worth a lot.

    1. I gave up landscaping years ago - it's her yard and she's free to dig as many holes as she likes.

  3. Am I the only one who thinks Smooch is tunneling toward a two hour rabbit chase on the other side?

    1. She wouldn't dare...I hope. All these years of all this digging and she hasn't tunneled under yet.

  4. Two things come to mind....#1-Snake on the other side. #2-Broken dew claw. I hope she has fun digging and I'm wrong on both.

  5. Look on the bright side---you don't have to cut her front toenails.
Wonder if she'd let you blow the sand off her with the leaf blower?

    1. You'd think with all the digging and all the walking we do, those nails would wear themselves down, but they don't. Doesn't seem fair.

  7. 'Darn! Wish they'd take down that fence. I know if I could just get...' LOL What a fun video. And she may never find it, but will have a great time trying. :-)

  8. Do you always notice that no matter how big the hole that is dug, when filling it back in with the piled dirt, that it only fills half way in??? We have that issue here too. My girls dig. Sometimes more than others. I think it starts out they dig for crab grass roots, and then it gets out of hand. When I go to fill back the holes, I am usually missing a whole lot of dirt! LOL By the way, I know why they like the crab grass roots, as well as my donkeys. They are SWEET!!!!!! (Yes I tasted them! LOL)

  9. Don't think of it as digging, think of it as Smooch's own version of rototilling.

  11. finally got a chance to watch this, but just a tad later than everyone else. I'm thinking this action is similar to "why did the chicken cross the road."

  12. She's either tunneling out, a la The Great Escape, or she's part bear and digging a den for winter.
