Make that seven years - the post below is from October 19, 2013.
This weekend, we'll again be celebrating the arrival of George and Alan at the 7MSN.
Life hasn't been the same since, and in such a good way.
Six years ago yesterday, Smooch and I drove to Colorado to adopt George and Alan and bring them home.
In honor of the occasion, I gathered the family around me to re-tell the tale of that fateful day
and how my life changed immeasurably upon the arrival of two wild little burros.
Clearly they've heard the story one too many times....
...although George and Alan did get a little emotional when I got to the part where I opened the trailer doors
and they saw the wide open spaces before them.
Alan even broke into song.
Two sweet burros that have surely made your life hilarious...never a dull moment with those two!
ReplyDeleteThey have been living in paradise ever since. Lucky boys! BA SP
ReplyDeleteOh HAPPY DAY!
ReplyDeleteso glad you shared this, i can see and feel their joy and yours...
ReplyDeleteWere you blogging then? Or do you have a former post about their adoption? We'd love to read it. Hope all of you have a terrific anniversary celebration -- complete with treats befitting the anniversary boys, of course!

Maggy, my first blog post ever was written a few days after they arrived and was all about their adoption. Here's the link. http://www.the7msnranch.com/2007/10/story-of-george-and-alan-day-3.html
DeleteThanks so much for the link .. loved reading about how George and Alan came to be a part of your world. Kudos to the men at the correctional facility that cared for them, and that 'good-looking cowboy' who turned a blind eye to Smooch AND your camera (did you manage to at least get a pic of him? :- )

I love that story and Alan's face in the second to last picture.
ReplyDeleteOh my! There are single days in our lives that change everything. That was one of them. Do you ever wonder what lucky star made you call BLM just then, and made somebody pick out these 2 special guys? Think how you've grown since then, and in what ways! It seems at the time like such a normal little thing when we take the step that opens whole new landscapes. For me it was going to a dog show because it was free, and being struck by lightning in the form of Siberians crowding into the ring. Great laughs & learning & joy have blossomed over the 30 years since then. As they have for you & will continue to do. All I can say is, keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteAwww- you made me laugh out loud..they are just too cute, and must be so much fun. We have one- Jack..he is just the sweetest.
ReplyDeleteI think I've said it before, but...: In my opinion, the "Survivor" people made a really dumb call, but I am endlessly glad they did. May the joy that your little consolation prizes bring into your life always and by far outweigh the inevitable worry and hard work...
ReplyDeleteWhat does Alan's song sound like?! Another video request!! ;)
