All of Monday evening's mud-slinging quickly gave way to Tuesday morning's sunshine.
The creek receded and I was reasonably sure Smooch and I would be able to enjoy
a pleasant walk around the fence line to inspect for any storm-related damage.
Smooch: This mud is slippery. I think we should turn back.
I think I should have listened to Smooch.
The camera was saved and the only thing hurt was my pride.
Smooch: Now can we turn back?
A dog that doesn't enjoy puddles?
ReplyDeletemud is good for the skin, you could have rolled in it !
ReplyDeleteYou have mud, we have ice (winter only). Be careful out there. A broken leg is hard to fix when
ReplyDeleteyou live at the 7MSN. Glad things are drying up a bit.
BA SP
Mud is a free spa treatment. How amazingly beautiful it looks there!
ReplyDeleteOoops! More important, YOU aren't broken. Perhaps a good hiking boot (low rise) for these types of conditions. They have better traction.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, have the boys been taking advantage of the outdoor spa (mud baths anyone ) ?? ;)

that mud does look slick.. it looks like the red clay in KY and when it dries on your feet is like a brick... love the shot of Smooch at the puddle.
ReplyDelete"Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to (dance) slip in the (rain) mud. It rained last night and now the sun is shining" ~Tessa~
ReplyDeleteOOPS! Canine wisdom......hmmmmm. We'll at least your camera is a-ok.
ReplyDeleteAt least it wasn't a big pile of poop! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, man, I have experienced your slippery mud and it is treacherous! Really glad you didn't twist or break anything!
ReplyDeleteYour shoes. You might as well be wearing flip flops. Carson, get yourself some real shoes for the monsoon season. Big rubber boots with good traction. You are lucky you didnt break a hip.
ReplyDeleteWhat concerns me is when Smooch gives you his best advice, you don't take it and a fall results.Does Smooch's regard for you just diminish a little each time that happens? I know, scary thought!.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope you don't get any bruises!
ReplyDeleteLike Danni, I have slipped in your "slicker 'n snot" mud (thanks Dad, for that saying!). I was wearing serious muck boots with real tread on the bottom. Still got my backside all muddy. Glad you didn't break anything and saved the camera!!
ReplyDeleteProper footwear required when making such a slog. Smooch knew she was not equipped - and neither were you. It will dry up soon though. And lots of green in the pasture as a lovely parting gift ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your illustrations! Smooch's smirk is right on :)
ReplyDeleteLove your 'substantial footwear'! ;) I often get teased for being a socks and half boots fan! ;)
