The creek is running at the 7MSN. Only thing is, we're not supposed to have one.
Another 1.25" of rain came down on Monday, in about an hour.
Most people take sewers for granted. I'm not one of those people.
You know you live in the middle of nowhere when
you grab a shovel to dig a new trench whenever it rains real hard real fast.
We were all wondering...and worrying...whether the rain would stop.
What's the point of all the green grass in the pasture if it's raining so hard you can't enjoy it?
I remind Minnie every time it rains that she has a dry shelter in which to take refuge, but does she listen? Hell no.
I assured Johnny that the lizards would come out again as soon as it stops raining,
but I'm not sure he believed me.
I think it's just Wynonna, reminding us of her pool-adventures. Hi Wynonna, we still love you and will never forget you. Hope you are enjoying some muddy pools as well.

that is a lot of water indeed. you would need to dig holes so that the water goes into the earth or dig a well rather than sewage
ReplyDeleteIt's been a wet summer here in the north as well. Basements flooded, cars abandoned and the list goes on. No forest fires this summer.
ReplyDeleteWeather is so unpredictable. I've had the best garden ever.

Another lovely portrait of Handsome Hank (and his buddies, of course).
ReplyDeleteAt least it is flat-ish. Is the water collapsing hills and filling in drains? If I were there, I would be out there with you. I am the Drainage Engineer of my family. We live at the bottom of a hill. Where does water go? Down hill.
ReplyDeleteliving where you live we know it will not last long...
ReplyDeleteHeavy rain here too. Last night the first clap of thunder was so LOUD and close that I thought a plane had come down in the field behind my house.

Minnie the wet hen - temper to go with it I'm sure. JCC just chilling and dry. The herd does look a little forlorn. It will dry up soon and that gorgeous NM sky will return. Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteIs all that rain washing away the "gutters" along your road out? Do we need to send in coffee and snacks from Trader Joes, yet? We'll airlift it. :)
ReplyDeleteI had seen a large storm on doppler radar, right over your area of New Mexico. I figured you were getting a much needed rain -- maybe all at once.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking....Drone deliveries from Trader Joe's. All going to good use. Mother Nature knows what she's doing. JCC and the herd look pretty patient.
ReplyDeleteI see another project in the works...for "just in case" rain. Love the pic of Lucy and George...almost twins
ReplyDeleteSend the rains this way!! Despite living on the "Wet" Coast of Canada, we are having the worst drought ever - to the point that we are about to start trucking the salmon up the (now very very low) river so they can spawn.
ReplyDeleteChickens .....all beauty, no brains.
ReplyDeleteHandsome Hank does look worried! And do I see Lucy's tongue trying to lap up a few drops?! Minnie looks fiendish and JCC looks like he's accepted that all the lizards have drowned. They need to realize that you and your shovel are all that can divert the storm!
