Smooch and I took a little road trip on Friday to go hiking at a place we'd never been – San Lorenzo Canyon.
Once Smooch got used to the idea that the tall walls weren't going to cave in on her...
...she had a blast. Me, too.
The weather was perfect, and and the canyon walls provided lots of shade.
Here is Smooch flaring her nostrils...I think she was sniffing out imaginary bandits.
She would have eaten them had they shown up.
Here is Smooch standing in the mud.
Here is Smooch at the Sonic drive-in after we got the mud off her paws.
No road trip is complete without a green chile cheeseburger...
...or a long nap afterwards.
You do live in heaven...you have green chile cheeseburgers!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun, especially the green chili cheeseburgers.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful country. Sounds like you and Smooch had a great day.
ReplyDeleteSmooch will go anywhere you lead. Love her, muddy paws and all.
ReplyDeleteSmooch, you make the French expression "une vie de chien" (a dog's life, meaning a hard life) a perfect lie!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you 2 really enjoyed your day away from the ranch. Hmmmmm. Wonder if Smooch would enjoy White Sands? But I guess that's a bit of a road trip south.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say, I've never heard of a green chili cheeseburger. There are no chilis of any kind in Germany.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I would have gotten the burger first, then been to bloated and fat to have climbed all over the rocks, drove past the rocks and went home and into bed. Happy Monday.
ReplyDeleteShelley and her college friends from NM Tech would hike all over that area. Devout rock climbers they were and scared the heck outta me. Just a great get away for you and Ms. Smooch. And yep that green chile cheeseburger is a given when out and about. xoxo Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteoutstandingly beautiful! I've put New Mexico on my bucket vacation list. Thanks for the great pics.

What!? No ice cream? Aww, mannn
ReplyDeleteSmooch looks like she was in "high alert mode". All of those new scents probably had her excited.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! New places are always so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI need a picture of the green chile cheeseburgers, never had one!
