Life's better at the barn

Life's definitely better at the barn, especially on windy spring days.
Rather than get sandblasted, the herd will huddle there for hours,
and I will join them because it's my favorite place to be.

I wonder if they know how much they're loved?

Me: Don't you two be goin' all bad-ass on me now.

So much for those tender-moment photos.

Sigh...I could look at Handsome Hank all day.

Yes, and you, too, Miss Lucy.

I've shown you this picture of Lucy with my favorite sign before.
The sign came from Bainbridge Farm Goods, purveyor of more adorable barn,
farm, animal, and garden signs than you can imagine. The good folks there have come out with
a new product and are sponsoring a giveaway for one of them, right here and right now!
Check out these white boards for your barn:

If your donkey, mule or horse (or child or grandchild) would like to have one of these hanging
on the front of his or her stall (or bedroom), leave a comment on this post by 7 p.m. Mountain time on Friday.
I'll do a random drawing and announce the winner Saturday morning.

Thank you, Bainbridge Farm Goods, for sponsoring this giveaway and providing me with a title for this post.

  1. Ooh! Wipe off boards are our favorite! Miss Pinkles writes me thank you notes for her morning grits! (She's a human) and the Ladies Who Graze like wipe off, too. They are like big erasers!

  2. Hi Carson! I love your blog, and I even starting following your walking friend on Facebook! The boys look really hairy still - do you help them shed out?

  3. Love your blog and I read it everyday before heading to work. Some day I'm going to have my own ranch/farm. Right now just 3 dogs (all rescued), 2 cats, and 4 chickens . . . oh, yes and one grandson who says he will help me. Would love to have one of the signs. Thanks for all you do. 4. I would love to have the one with the horse picture. I'll take it to the barn where I spend my
summer feeding horses, cats, and dogs apples and various treats. It's a place where
everybody is happy to see you but I don't think they know my name. It's an escape when
    life gets in the way.

  8. I can only imagine (and sympathize) how bad the winds are up your way. I at least have some wind blocks to help and it is still miserable to have to do chores, etc. when the winds are howling (which seems to be pretty constant right now.) I just wish the weather was accompanied by some rain. Jan in central NM

  10. I adore the naughtiness of pic #4! So silly and fully it!
You know by introducing me to Bainbridge that I'm in further trouble as far as my pocketbook goes. :)

  11. Love the smell of fresh hay in the barn. I don't have a barn so don't include me in the drawing, thanks for your offer, though. Oh, it's started snowing/sleeting outside now!!! I'm in Sandia Park where you used to live. Hope some moisture gets south to the 7MSN.

  14. Gotta love the look of disdain on Lucy's face when the boys start their antics! Those signs are so cool. They would come in handy when we have someone else feeding our boys when we go on vacation. Great giveaway!

  15. I've ordered a sign for my dog ( that breed was not shownon the site) and we are just trying to come up with the right saying to put on the sign. Susan did a great painting of the dog and has been really great to deal with.

  27. Abby and I would LOVE to have a wipe off board for the barn! We bought the green donkey sign already and love it! Ours even has real donkey teeth marks on it. I fastened it to the fence with the plastic wire ties.... and yep, they chewed the ties and somehow got the sign on the other side of the fence and chewed one corner.... damn donkeys! Gotta LOVE them!!!! So a red donkey sign would be super!!!! Sandy and Abby from Edgewood..... I don't know how to sign up to get an account to post from.... so we are Anonymous!!!
