The porcine princess went to the vet on Friday to have her teeth cleaned and hooves trimmed.
This year's visit went much the same as last year's, which is to say uneventful but exhausting.
For reasons known only to Wynonna, she fought the anesthesia mightily, and the vet had to give her
more than the usual dose to knock her out. Hence, she was still passed out when we arrived home.

Pushing 165 pounds of sleeping pig down the ramp is easier than
pushing 165 pounds of awake pig up the ramp, and one has to be grateful for small mercies.
Me: Wynonna, this would not be a good time to wake up.
I needn't have worried – she was still out cold.
I arranged her in a safe place in her pen and kept vigil until she came to.
Me: It was for your own good, but you're gonna hate me in the morning.
Me: Anybody in there? Apparently not.
When she began to twitch her legs a bit, I decided to roll her out of the crate as gently as I could.
I hope she doesn't remember what ended up being an unceremonious dump.
George: Tsk...tsk...she's an embarrassment to the crown.
Within the hour, she tried to stand but couldn't get her back legs under her.
Wynonna: Somebody call me a cab.
She eventually made her way into the royal chambers and was served dinner in bed.
poor baby, hope her hangover doesn't hurt to much...
ReplyDeleteSo glad all went well. I love the pig. She is well looked after. You are so good to your animals. Hats off!

ReplyDeleteroyal treat! you need to suffer to be beautiful
ReplyDeleteI wonder how you get her out at the vet, do they help you?
ReplyDeleteI was feeling so sorry for the big baby...aww she looked so sweet all curled up....then the " call me a cab" I lost it!
ReplyDeleteHa haaaa hilarious....still laughing :-)
Glad all went well for the Wynonna. She's got to be wondering what the hell happened to her. I'm sure she's in for lots of treats today to make up for this inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteWynonna looks like she found the good life even if maybe a cab was needed. Good to hear she is on her feet once again.
ReplyDeleteThere must be something about anesthesia and PBPs--my neighbor has had hers put under twice. Both times it took far more than expected and it was a LONG time wearing off.
ReplyDeleteGlad your trip went well. Hope you got some sleep without worrying about her too much.
You already know that I live vicariously through Wynnona stories! Glad to hear that she came through her annual vet service visit so well.
ReplyDeleteCarine, two burly techs lift the crate in and out of the truck at the clinic. I tried to convince them to come home with me but was unsuccessful.
ReplyDeleteHRH W is such a lucky pig to have you as her Momma. She truly is treated well. Hope you are okay after the porcine packing adventure. Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad all went well with the Princess, and hope she is soon feeling just fine. Sure do love that pig and the great life she has with you.
ReplyDeleteWhew! Glad the ordeal is over for another year. All's well that ends well and all that.
ReplyDeleteHer royal highness will be back to her snippy self in no time at all :)
What an event, but what incredibly pretty toes she has now!
ReplyDeleteAnd you could even pat her sweet princess porcine head without royal outrage!!
:-)
thank you for the info Linda, what a shame these techs did not come over, they dont now what they lost!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear she made it through her "spa day" just fine! Good thing it's only once a year! ;)
