O Christmas trees

In the light of day, the ranch Christmas tree that Danni left for me was more festive than I had imagined.
A lifelong Scrooge, the darned thing has me humming Christmas carols.

The tree itself is a dried yucca stem.

I think the bovine bone tree topper looks like an angel with wings.

There are chicken feathers tucked among the yucca pods...

...and cholla cactus blossom ornaments are hung with baling twine.
Could it be more beautiful and festive? I don't think so.

Smooch: I think you've been hitting the eggnog.

Then, as if one festive Christmas tree weren't enough to give the place a little holiday cheer,
what to my wondering eyes should appear but a box in the mail from Ethel.

It contained a Charlie Brown Christmas tree...

...all scrawny and perfect with one tiny ornament.

Smooch: I'm speechless.

Smooch: I don't think any presents will fit under there.

Me: We don't need presents, Smooch. We have friends, and they're the greatest gifts of all.

  4. Oh, I think there's room under either tree for a dog treat, and maybe some sugar cubes for the long eared members of the family!

  5. Creative genius with the whole cholla tree, and amazing thoughtfulness with the Charlie Brown tree. Creative people inspire me, and thoughtful people give me hope. I love this post, and I love that you have such a fabulous friend. Merry Christmas to you and your babies, each and every one.

  13. Most excellent. I love that the Charlie Brown tree comes with its own Linus blanket, too. *smile*

We don't have room for a tree this year, so we've decorated with poinsettas. The splash of red actually looks quite festive.

    Merry, merry.

  18. I love the close ups on Danni's tree, the colors and the angel... such thoughtfulness and love that went into it.
TheresaEH, you can Google and find them, all prices. I found mine at a store called Five and Below and knowing Carson, couldn't resist.

That has to be the most beautiful Christmas tree in the world because it was made and decorated with love.

Merry Christmas to the you, the 7MSN gang and your followers and of course to Dani.

  22. Your friends have proved you wrong: no more 100%, lifelong Scrooge!! Now, where's your Santa hat??!!

What a laugh I got at Smooch's expression at you "hitting the eggnog again"!

Have a great day at the 7MSN.

  23. You really hit the jackpot with those trees - not to mention the friends who gave them. It's a sure bet the trees will put a smile on your face every time you look at them. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So behold the beauty!!!

  24. Having two Christmas trees is normal at my house. But I don't have a cool, one like Danni made. We certainly have our fair share of cholla though. You are blessed to have such good friends Carson! Merry Christmas!

  28. If you look at the bovine tree topper it looks like a side view of an angel with her wings behind her. Then, she appears to be holding up a baby with wings in front of her. What a prophetic symbol of angels watching over you, and given to you by an angel of a friend. Perfect gift??? I'd say.

  29. Ohhh, I love the Charlie Brown tree! Ethel just cracks me up! That one red ball ornament makes me giggle every time I look at the picture. She knows you so well. :-)
Your appreciation of my funny ranch tree makes me feel so good! The faint glimmer of inspiration hit me up side my head when I went out to feed one morning and saw that dried (vaguely tree-shaped) yucca stem lying on the ground next to the chicken door :-)
