Resistance is futile

It was about 4:30 Monday afternoon and I was trying to finish up my work for the day.
There was a scratch at the door.

You know where this is going.

Me: You have to promise to leave all rodents, birds, squirrels, and lizards outside...dead, alive or otherwise.
Is that understood?

Johnny: You have to protect me from that dog. Is that understood?

Johnny: I see a mouse over there.
Me: Wrong kind.

Johnny's first indoor adventure didn't last very long, but we all know it won't be his last.

  1. Yippie! Once Smooch gets used to JCC's smell in the house, things should smooth out. I'm glad you have a kitty again.

  2. I'm sure with the hint of cooler days ahead, Johnny senses the possibilities and comforts of the 'cozy' potential inside. There's nothing like a kitty curled up on the bed, or next to the fire, or under the Christmas tree, etc. Just sayin'...

  4. Soon we'll see a post with Johnny scratching the door on the other side saying 'I need to go out for a few minutes!' ;)

  7. HA! I knew it ;p Maybe JCC wants to be an outdoor/indoor kind of cat.

  8. How could a sad little thin fur coat like that keep a fella warm enough in the winter when all the rodents have gone to ground? You're bound to have need of a lap warmer...

  9. Imagine winter will have him knocking on the door to get in every night. Look forward to seeing the post with him curled up in bed. He is so lucky to have found you!

  10. We all know it won't be his last inside adventure. One day he and smooch will be curled up on your bed and you'll be sleeping on the couch.

  14. Well of course he has to check it out..he is the sheriff and must be able to go where duty calls him. There may be a rodent inside the four walls, heck the barn has them! He is only doing his duty. (And sometimes duty requires being inside on a winter evening, because of course the rodents will try to access the premises.)

Oh dear, someone is meowing. I guess breakfast wasn't to his standards. Or maybe because I cleaned up the catnip.

  15. I love it and him. We have a sick cat right now. She's been into the vet and he/we can't figure it out but waking up this morning to see him getting to explore the house gave me a smile I badly needed. I've had a lot of outdoor cats that became indoor. They have been some of my most beloved and individualistic cats :)

  17. That first photo is priceless. I knew where this was going when I read the title, before I ever got to the blog. I think most of us guessed it months ago.

  23. I've read your blog for a couple years now. From the moment the first picture of Johnny Cash Cat appeared, it was already determined. You could just see it in his eyes. And like so many others, I thought Good Luck, that little feline is bound to sneak into your heart and house. This post made me laugh out loud this morning. Orange Cats are just too cute to say no to.

  27. Love the first photo. If he doesn't move in for winter, he will need a sweater or a buddy to snuggle with :)

  30. So Happy. I adopted an orange cat about a month ago and I know who influenced me. Johnny is so handsome.

  31. Uh huh...

    *happy dancing*

I do hope Smooch and Johnny find a way to get a long.

  32. Now if Johnny and Smooch can just become friends. Johnny's tail is tucked so far in that picture of him working up the courage to cross the threshold that you can't see it. He knows that Smooch lives in there with you. What was she doing while Johnny looked around? Johnny is so expressive; love it!

  43. Smooch will adjust to him. She has lived with cats before. As long as she knows he belongs, she will be fine. Resistance is totally futile and winter is coming. Love these pics and the post.
