Poor, pitiful Minnie. She's been so busy laying eggs that she postponed her annual molt until the last minute.
I'm hoping all her new feathers will grow in before it gets much colder.
She's actually quite beautful when she's in fine feather...and not standing on her head eating a tomato.
Clara: You could have molted with the rest of us, but noooo...
you had to wait and grab all the attention for yourself.
Minnie: Go pluck yourself.
Minnie: If you want any more eggs from me, you'll put away that camera now.
Nuh uh, *I don't* sip my coffe while reading 7MSN; once again, my keyboard survived unsplattered.
ReplyDeleteHope Minnie gets unruffled soon.
Oh, poor Minnie. I have one hen that gets that way every year. I do hope those feathers grow in quickly, or you may have to put a heat lamp in the coop for a bit.
ReplyDeletePoor thing :( hope she gets beautiful again :p as fast as possible

Perhaps a little knitted chicken sweater is in order? ;)
ReplyDeleteall of your critters have THE MOST interesting conversation skills... love that last shot... i have never seen a chicken up close due to a child hood fear of them, so am amazed at the tomato eating shot the way the feathers are laid so carefully in lines.
ReplyDelete"Go pluck yourself." Greatest line I've heard in awhile!
ReplyDeleteOh heavenly days.....I usually laugh at what the critters (you) say, but I guffawed so loud Ms. Shelley came a running to see what was happening and the cats with her. Meow??????
ReplyDeleteGo pluck yourself is priceless. Po, po Minnie. Oma Linda
I agree with Janet - that line made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteWhat Janet said.
ReplyDeleteLove starting the morning with your blog. Poor Minnie - go pluck yourself indeed. Hope those feathers grow back fast.
ReplyDeleteLet's think about getting a chicken sweater for that girl before it gets too cold. http://www.etsy.com/listing/112914293/chicken-sweater-hen-sweater-chickens
ReplyDeleteLaughing and smiling here in Idaho. Great post!!
ReplyDeleteThe poor girl looks rough right now but she will be beautiful again just like a swan and the ugly duckling story before too long!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Minnie. The ugly chicken contest at GRIT is over so your photos probably won't go viral. But there's always next year…
ReplyDeleteWhat the pluck? (You started it...)
ReplyDeleteThis totally cracked me up!!!!
ReplyDeleteHa haaa... What they said I "snorted" at go pluck yourself!
ReplyDeleteShe does look a little " rough " but those are the best eggs around!
LOL, what an expression she has on. Poor girl! Mine get pretty sulky when they moult but haven't seen one look that grumpy. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe she needs a "chicken sweater"?
ReplyDeleteMy, my. Minnie has quite the mouth on her. *grin*
ReplyDeleteGreatest "plucking" post ever!!! You are the only one that can make me literally laugh out loud. I love your blog and I love you Minnie!!!
