Every garden gneeds a gnome

JohnnyCashCat has been taking the morning sun in the garden this week.
He sits like a statue until he realizes I'm watching him from the window,

then he makes his way across the rails to get closer.

Johnny: Let me in the house and we can stop all this nonsense.

Me: I'm thinking about it. In the meantime, sit there and look handsome.
The light is very flattering, and I like the blurry weeds in the foreground.

Johnny: A-hem...let's get the focus back on me.
People don't come here for this artsy-fartsy crap.

Johnny: Much better.

  1. Me thinks you're pretty smitten with Johnny Cashcat :-) .. He's gotten a lot of attention from you lately!

Do you think he can be an indoor/outdoor cat? (He's awfully cute, but I have a thing for orange tabbys :-)

  5. I'm with JCC, let's get on in the house so he can find his perfect spot for the winter. He's going to need to test out the sunroom, the chairs, the couch and your bed.

  6. I love this cat. Whom nobody is attached to.

  7. Ok....I may be just a little premature. But...."I told you so!!" "No!" you protested....."No cats in the house." But I knew that it would only be a matter of time until he wormed his way through you heart and right into the front door!! He's a looker, that Johnny Cash Cat! Now my next prediction is "cat lap warmer" in front of the TV!! It's just a matter of time.

  11. Linda, Have I missed the reader poll in which we all place bets on which date Johnny Cash Cat finally makes it into the house?

  12. I adopted a cat a few months ago. He was a "proven mouser". He has turned into a house cat, BUT he is still the mighty hunter and is ridding the place of mice. In between hunting forays, he is a lap cat, gets along with the Cardigans (Chase cleans his face and ears wile Rascal purrs). The cat and dogs go out walking together.

It appears a cat can make up his mind to be the mouser and a pet. Johnny may just need the chance.

  13. I really think Johnny got put on the "Barn Relocation" list by mistake. Maybe he was to be in the "Witness Protection" program instead, hunting by day and curled by fire at night. I've worked with rescue cats for 15 yrs and orange taby cats are always the sweetest. He's also a handsome boy!

  14. Nice shots. I have always found that Orange cats are always friendly, people cats. I have yet to meet one that isn't. That's probably why he wants in!

  16. Lord, he is regal! Yep. Come on inside, Johnny Cashcat. Come on. You know Carson will let you. Just another day or 2. You've almost gotten her broken down. Now, just work your wiles on Smooch and you're in!!!

  17. I know we all agreed "no getting attached", or something like that, but too late. I think we all agree he found his way into our hearts.

  18. He is a lovable guy! If only Smooch would give him a chance... Maybe this winter :-)

  19. Johnny is sure a beauty and looks so intelligent. I have a sot spot for orange cats. He reminds me of a cat we called Tigger and he was the cutest, most loving pal anybody could ask for. He came as a stray and settled right into house life-- with his freedom to go out anytime except at night. No nights out for him.

  20. He's terribly photogenic, I think we can all agree on that. :)

  21. Oh, he's a handsome cat. I bet he'd really take to curling up in front of the cozy wood stove...*grin*

  22. Our orange tabby lived to be 22. He was a two house cat, lived both with us and my in-laws up the gravel drive. He went on walks with us just like a dog. He really preferred to be outside, but would come in to torment our declawed (already done when we got her) siamese, who would run like a girl when he tried to play.
So, Johnny, you'll be in by Thanksgiving is my guess.

  23. Johnny: Hey food, camera, giver of good scratches lady...just leave the door to that nice porch cracked open...I've had my eye on that daybed in there with the nice view. :)

  24. Dear Smooch: In a few more days Johnny CashCat will be moving into the house. I know you will not be keen on this idea, but cats can be very useful for knocking tasty tidbits onto the floor from high places, distracting humans while dogs do whatever it is that the human doesn't want you to do, and providing a constant source of exercise and amusement. Please welcome him. Your faithful reader, Allie the Cat.

  28. He is a very handsome cat and tall too. Pretty pictures. Thank you for sharing...did you get the special Johnny quilts out yet?

  29. P L E A S E let Johnny in!! How can you resist those beautiful eyes and cute face? Smooch will grow to love Johnny too, you'll see!

  30. Let him in for the night and out for the morning. You'd love it, he'd love it and maybe only Smooch that would look askance at the arrangement. Do you have an indoor cat now?

    meow,

Ziva Zophia Tortie, who never goes outdoors.

  31. Let him in and out. He wants to look around and nap on a blanket.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, he does coordinate nicely with Smooch. Think how cute they would be all snuggled up together. Maybe if he only came in at night he would still feel compelled to do his job?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh boy, you can feel your resistance melting! :) Johnny just needs to make one more conquest - - Smooch - - and he's in like Flint. Come on Smooch, give that handsome cat a chance to be your new buddy! I can feel it coming. :-)

  34. Keeping my fingers crossed for JohnnyCashCat!! Love that last shot!!

  35. My little Daisy, also a yellow tabby, was an indoor/outdoor cat. She would come indoors when it got cold. She lived to be 17 years old and just died last spring. I miss her dearly. She was a ferocious hunter, in spite of the fact that she was tiny and only weighed 6 pounds! She really preferred to be outdoors, hunting something.

  36. Johnny sure is doing his bestest to sweep you off your feet to let him come inside! Such a beautiful boy!
