Gone are the days when Johnny spent every daylight hour hiding in the feed room,
fearful of the monsters lurking beyond the door.
Having mastered his skills on the balance beam, he boldly walks around like he owns the place,
confident that he is only one leap away from danger.
But he's still trying to sort out who can be trusted and who cannot. Smooch? Not yet.
Wynonna? Yes, but she makes too much noise and he's not particularly interested in having a porcine confidante.
The chickens? Johnny knows he'd best provide them with the spoils of his hunting lest he become the spoils of theirs.

And what about those longears?
He wants to believe they'll play nice, but he's got some lingering doubts.
George: I still haven't forgiven you for that wisecrack about my nostrils.
Johnny: I knew that.
Johnny has pegged Lucy as the most gentle of the herd.
And she is, unless yours truly is in the picture.
Lucy: Stay away from her. She's mine.
well I can tell you that Johnny is wise enough to have found out that YOU are the most trustful person in the pace
ReplyDeleteOh, my...
ReplyDeleteThat first picture immediately brought back images of Deets moseying across the fence rails! Sure miss him, but Johnny CashCat is doing a good job of filling his paw prints.
I love how Johnny is settling in there. He suits the place. I never would have figured Lucy for the territorial type. As I keep telling my animals, "There's enough love to go around!"
ReplyDeleteCarson,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all the work you put into taking care of those adorable critters to this wonderful blog! You always manage to put a smile on my face! I appreciate that too!
Hugs,

That nostril comment made me laugh out loud! No noise usually comes out of me until after coffee and now since I have found your wonderful blog, it's a regular thing. My hub is starting to wonder what's going on. By the way, I really think Johnny's new warm house is great, but I know I would cave in when he looks in through the window!
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought as EvenSong as soon as I saw that picture. I imagine Deets' spirit telling JC all is well and that he can be friends with any of the other critters. Lucy definitely wants you to herself!

I know it won't be long we'll have a picture of Johnny CashCat sitting on George's back! Ha! Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet face!! I love that you have Johnny at the farm.
ReplyDeleteSmart cat.
ReplyDeleteI Heart Lucy. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled for Johnny, as he has to negotiate the 4-leggeds to get to his warm spot in the feed room.
Reminds me of Bob's early forays into the barn... he is determined to make Dancer be his friend.
ReplyDeleteAbout that Deets on the fence rail pic. Using it as background. Such a nice season friendly pic.Even if he weren't a black cat, would look like one in the pic. A favorite.
ReplyDeleteAll the animals are a bit touchy when it comes to sharing you theses days. Even more than usual :) Johnny is doing his part. Wise to be aware of where they step too.
I love his striped tail.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great rancher you are! Your place always looks so clean and organized. I've wondered though, how do you keep your cement floors in the house from cracking? Are they heated?
ReplyDeleteI am waiting to see Johnny cuddled up in your quilts...in the sunroom. I know that day is coming...
ReplyDeleteDear Lucy, don't make me compare your jealousy to this bovine's!:

Johnny si looking good, I think he has put on a few pounds, life is good for him.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see Johnny out and about!!
ReplyDeleteDeets. Reincarnated. The special ones find their way back.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since I visited and it has been my loss. You have a real talent for telling a story with your photos. Johnny is new to me. I'll have to peek into your posts more often.
