The most amazing things have been going on with Ranchsitter #5 at the helm. I'll be working
in my office when I hear interesting noises coming from one corner of the house or another.
I get up to investigate and see things like this...
See Joey cleaning out and organizing my spice cabinet.
Yes, the jars are now alphabetized.
See Joey dusting all the up-high things that I never even notice. If all the cabinets look shinier,
blame Joey and her bottle of Murphy's oil soap. That glow above Joey's head is the light shining down
from the light tube, but it might as well be a halo. She's an angel disguised as a ranchsitter.
Her cleaning obsession extends to the outdoors as well!
Yesterday Joey took a break from her self-imposed chores to haul me to a doctor's appointment.
On the way home we ran into this nice man roasting green chile on the side of the road.
I'd been debating all month whether I should bother to put up a sack of green chile this year,
not certain how my new g.i. tract would react to my favorite vegetable (or is it a fruit?).
I decided it would be better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, so we brought a sack home.
No surprise who did all the work to get it to the freezer.
A shelf full of green chile in the freezer...it's good for what ails me.
Even after an exhausting day, Joey wasn't too tired to lay down on the floor and play with Smooch.
I need a friend who likes to organize and clean! Does Joey want to be my friend?
ReplyDeleteMay I give Joey my address here in Ohio? I have some cleaning rags and my own bottle of Murphy's Oil Soap. I also have a lovely bottle of $4 Chardonnay and 2 dogs who say they never get enough lovin'!
ReplyDeleteHey Joey, there is an open invitation to my place here in Canada. You sound like the perfect guest. All joking aside, I'm glad you are helping Carson with all her chores.
ReplyDeleteBest always,
Freezing roasted green chilies....I'd never come across this before (in Houston), so i googled. You're set for the winter! (And Boy! those gloves are important) Maybe we can get some roadside roasters here.
ReplyDeleteI would have pitched a fit if you would have passed up those green chilies! I remember us searching all over tarnation one year for them! Thank you Joey!
ReplyDeleteEverything will be done when I get there...yay!!
See you guys soon
Wow. I wonder if your ranch sitters would love to make the circuit around the states? I don't have a ranch, but I could use a good round of ranch sitters helping me clean. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are in such good hands, that's for sure!
Does Joey want to come stay at my house next? My spice cabinet is all disorganized too.
ReplyDeleteJulia
Hmmm, would ranch sitter #5 like to visit Martha's Vineyard for a week or so? I sure could use a helping hand like that! I'm a great cook and it's just kitty and I .The weather is gorgeous and the crowds are gone ! Patience
ReplyDeleteI am thinking you should see if Ranch sitter number 5 will consent to be ranch sitter number 6.. LOL... wow, she must be hyper and OCD.. wish she was here.
ReplyDeleteCan you send Joey to New York State next? I don't have an ailment but my kitchen is a mess and i drink Corona.
ReplyDeleteI spy that you and the ranch sitter also stopped and picked up a few refreshments eh ;-) Your ranch sitter is just a bundle of awesome.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Joey! Maybe she'd like to stay longer so she doesn't have to go home to the snow that's already fallen at her house. :)
ReplyDeleteTell Joey that Redford and Rafer Johnson have little donkey hugs ready if she wants to take a trip to November Hill and spread some of that obsession around. Or even just hang out and relax. :)
ReplyDeleteHoping you are getting better every day!! I wish I were lined up to be one of your ranchsitters - I would love to meet George and Alan and Lucy and the whole gang. Take good care!!
Can I adopt Joey?
ReplyDeleteShe makes the rest of us look very very lazy.
ReplyDeleteIt's fruit. And I sure am glad you got some...what would a New Mexico winter be without green chile stew....yum.
ReplyDeleteWow, you get all the best ranchsitters. Cleaning genie RS, Hay Fairy RS, Keep the SS 7MSN afloat during the deluge pilot RS and the sister of all sisters RS who organized all the aforementioned love. And now Ethel will come and I'm sure you two will find some mischief to get into together....maybe some bone art.
It's a joy to wake up and find another wonderful post about interesting things at your very special corner of the world.
Cuckoos send their love and healing thoughts, Oma Linda
If this is the "crazy" which Joey announced she would bring down from Alaska, then this is the nicest, sweetest kind of crazy I can imagine.
ReplyDeletePerhaps September 2013 will be remembered as the Wonderful Era Of Halo-Worthy Ranch Sitters.
Vancouver Island would be a nice place to send Ranchsitter #5 as a thankyou for her help - and I have a guest room ready and waiting for her and her cleaning supplies!
ReplyDeleteYou are getting so spoiled (deservedly so).
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call strange behaviour! ;-) Where can I get a Joey?
ReplyDeleteOh boy, Joey set a high standard for the next ranchsitter. All the little chores like cleaning cabinets will be done and won't be worried about you, Linda being on a ladder for awhile. Thank you Joey for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteI need a nap after seeing the pictures of Joey at work. Now I'm tired! I've never tried green chiles, but I do love chopped jalapenos in lots of things, including omelets. Keep getting better!
ReplyDeleteNancy in Iowa
It looks like Joey's giving Danni a run for her money in the race for Ranchsitter of the Year Award.
ReplyDeleteThat chili roaster fella has a dynamite smile!
well, thankfully, Corona was involved ....
ReplyDeletewell being rotten poiled is going to be a tough habit not to get used to indeed! now you can add shiny stars around 7MSN as it is going to be sparkling from a distance!!
ReplyDeleteoo oo me I want one too!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have someone who can help out like that.....Who isn't afraid to jump right on in!!
Do you think sitter 5 would like a few weeks in Florida? I am happy that your blog friends have stepped in and helped you, these are real friends and they get to play with your babies and spend time with you, a win win situation.
ReplyDeleteOk Joey, how about a "vacation" in New Zealand? I have a case of Corona chilling as I write this, I'll up that offer of $4 Chardonnay to a $6 NZ Pinot AND I have 2 dogs that love having playtime. Oh, did I mention it's spring here? Please bring your own Murphy's oil soap (never heard of it) but I'm happy to supply all the cloths you need. ;)
ReplyDeleteI would have to say ALL your ranchsitters have been angels! But an angel that cleans, cooks and drinks beer!! Now, that is my kind of angel! :)
ReplyDeleteI second what June wrote!!! you lucky duck!
ReplyDeleteNo words for this treatment........ You must have been a super star in previous life..... Or ur going to owe big time in next one....!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMay I PLEASE borrow your friend? I have tons of jobs that need to be done here and hubby doesn't seem to want to do them!
ReplyDeleteAh, you are a lucky gal, indeed! Were I ranch sitting for you, I'd be ensconced in a chair watching your critters!
