When I was at Morning Bray Farm on Saturday impatiently waiting for Lady Harriet's arrival,
something happened that almost eclipsed the main event.
How could anything upstage Harriet? Not possible!
You'll have to trust me on this one.
Harriet's back yard backs up to the Rio Grande.
At this time of year and at this time of day, 80 bazillion Canada Geese congregate to do whatever geese do at sundown.
First you hear them, then you see them, then your eyes pop open as wide as they can stretch and your jaw drops, and
you climb up on the nearest fence to get a better view, and you hope like heck that you've focused your camera
because nobody is going to believe this unless they see it for themselves.
It's the most amazing scene, and Harriet will get to see it every stinkin' day until they migrate back north.
She's such a lucky girl, and so am I because I'm going back to MBF for Christmas.
More Harriet! More geese! More donkeys! And very special friends, too.
I hope you're able to spend your Christmas with people you love.
Holiday hugs from all of us at the 7MSN.

Oh, my~ That's a LOT of geese! We have a few here in our desert. They enjoy the ponds at the resorts.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from WI, and give Don & Justina warm greetings from us, too, when you see them!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if some of those very same geese are my summer neighbors. Please wave and shout that June says hello!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I love the sound of Canada geese, but I sure hate the mess they leave behind my neighborhood lake. We get tons that don't migrate (live just outside DC), and they poop everywhere, and my dogs feast on that stuff! It makes walking by the lake a challenge, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Christmas at MBF.
Merry Christmas Carson, and to all your wonderful critters. Give all of them a big old North Carolina hug. Watch out for any lost reindeer and the little man in the red suit. God bless you all.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is something to see. I saw a vee of geese this past Saturday, headed west. Maybe that's where they were going. I know you'll enjoy Christmas at Morning Bray. Take lots of pictures.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to you and the gang Carson.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you captured this on "film." What great photos, Carson. See you tomorrow. :-)
ReplyDeleteA very Merry Christmas to you Carse and all the kids!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Linda and to the 7MSN gang!
ReplyDeleteOHMYGOSH!!!! I so look forward to the return of the Canadian Geese every year (I live in northern Alberta) because that means spring has arrived and summer is just around the corner eh ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe will let our American friends "borrow" them for awhile, but send them back home soon please!!! (Minus 20 degrees here with a foot of cold snow)
A very Merry Christmas to the gang at 7MSN and their friends 2 and 4 legged eh :D
I remember visiting the Finger Lakes region of NY one time during the migration, and there were thousands of Canadas there! You couldn't see the ground in the fields where they were hangin' out, and when the all took off, you could barely see the sky!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all at the 7MSN!
Have a wonderful Christmas, Carson. Thank you for brightening my every morning. My coffee and Wheat Chex would not be the same without the 7MSN.
ReplyDeleteOh, Boy...can't wait for MBF Christmas Photos !
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all !!
Geese! we are surronded by them all year here on the west coast of BC.
ReplyDeleteRight now the Snow Geese from Russia are here taking over the farmlands.
I live very close to this bird refuge and I guess I'm so used to the geese it surprizes me when other people find them fasinating?
Trust me if you are a farmer, the geese are the enemy. There are so many of them they ruin everything.
But if you are a bird lover this is the place for you.

Happy Holidays everyone.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sight...the sound is what holds the thrill for me. The flapping of that many wings along with the honking is something else.
ReplyDeleteThe geese herder was just sending out his flock to welcome his new sister home.
Merry Christmas Ms. Linda. I know you will have a super time within the warm lovingkindness of the beasties and Don and Justina for a MBF Christmas. Oma Linda and the Cuckoos
We get them up here, but not to that amount. Beautiful. Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI used to hunt geese as a little girl and we called that evening behavior, "Working In". A most beautiful sight and sound to witness.
A very Merry Christmas to you and all your animals. Drive safely and hugs to the crew at MBF!
Merry Christmas, Carson
ReplyDeleteWould you give Lucy a message from me, please. Lucy, Every day since your "laughing" picture went up on your header, I get a huge laugh looking at it and I don't feel so SAD anymore. I think you could market that picture to Winter Depressives and upgrade your winter eats bigtime. Let me know if I can help you, as much as you have helped me.
Cheers,
Jo in MN
Linda, you bring so much happiness and joy to people, not just once in a while BUT everyday, I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in saying thank you AND bless you for lifting up the hearts of so many of us that come to your blog every morning ( or whenever) and know that we will end up with a smile and giggle in our heart. May you and all the family at 7MSN be blessed this coming year and know that you are loved by so very many. Hugs
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - thank you for sharing these gorgeous photos And I send our best wishes to you for a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteIf you see them again tell them "hi" from Montana!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
Merry Christmas
Ear rubs to every one and a special hug for Harriet.
Enjoy your site always. This is very interesting to me today because yesterday I saw a bazilon snow geese in fields at the edge of Mississippi. It was unbelievable. To a southern like me it looked like two fields of cotton ready to pick. I took pictures but none as amazing as yours. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHey, my compatriots! Nice to see they're doing their bit to add to the festive atmosphere! What an incredible sky colour, too.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all at The 7MSN Ranch!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Carson, to you and your merry band!
ReplyDeletebreathtaking!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as the soft eye of a rescued donkey.
