The big news out of New Mexico this weekend is that Morning Bray Farm adopted a new donkey.
Here is the backstory, in case you missed it.
Harriet made the trip from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Albuquerque yesterday,
and I was there to help welcome her to her new home.
It was around 5 p.m. and Don was on the phone with Teri, the volunteer from L.E.A.N. (Local Equine Assistance Network)
who was hauling Harriet, talking her through the maze of Albuquerque.
Finally, the headlights appeared at the end of the road. Justina jumped for joy.
It might be time to get an extension for the Morning Bray Farm sign.
Harriet: Why are all those boys over there staring at me?
We'll never know for certain, but it's possible that Harriet has never been around other donkeys.
She and Ellsworth have the same coloring and are about the same size,
though Harriet wins in the ear-length category.
She settled into her own pen while Gracie and the boys finished their dinner next door.
Once Harriet rests up from her long journey, she'll join the rest of the herd.
Harriet: Is this heaven?
Me: It's the closest thing to it you'll find here on earth.
If this picture had a soundtrack, you would hear Buck and Ellsworth whistling.
Harriet is the talk of the town.
Another very lucky donkey indeed. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! and the best 2013.
ReplyDeleteThank you for so much enjoyment reading all the happenings at the 7MSN all year and your visits to Morning Bray Farm. Some earth angels in both of these places for sure.

ReplyDeleteOh, what a sweet face Harriet has, complete with her worried-looking little eyebrows. She looks little to me . . . I didn't realize Ellsworth was smallish too. If I ever visited, I'd probably try to put donkeys in my pockets and steal away.
ReplyDeleteShe has an absolutely adorable face! Wishing her a long and happy life.
ReplyDeleteThe best Christmas present ever!!!!

I love her looks, and can't wait to see her mingle with her new sister and brothers. I'm sure you told your family all about her, and that they're dying to meet her as well.

ReplyDeleteHarriet is, indeed, a lucky soul who has found her forever home.
Christmas just got a little brighter :-)
ReplyDeleteHarriet is one lucky donkey -- congratulations all around!
Best wishes to both Morning Bray and 7MSN.
Oh, this has me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside and I have a huge grin plastered on my face. She's the cutest thing to arrive at the ranch since Ellsworth. It makes me sad to think that she may not have known the company of other donkeys before, but I have a feeling the other residents will soon be making up for lost time.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for everyone! How thrilling it must have been to have been a part of this exciting day.
Harriet you lucky lady!! What a special Christmas gift for everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteHarriet is so beautiful. She has that peaceful soul look about her that Ellsworth has. This is so wonderful. Teary eyed again! It means so much to you that you and Morning Bray create such a loving home for your critter family and for us. Wishing all of you all things bright and beautiful for Christmas and the New Year.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable and her eyes are full of wonder...
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas and a Blessed New Year....
