Of mice and pepperoni

I just returned with my family from a place called Butterfly World. Sort of like Disneyworld, with butterflies instead of Mickey Mouse. Took a bazillion pictures but cannot figure out how to resize them for the blog from my sister's laptop. That will have to be a post for another time. Meanwhile, I checked my email and sure enough, there were two from Ethel back at the 7MSN.

Email #1, 2:11 p.m.
Hey woman,
Hope you are enjoying your visit. I need to know if and where you keep your mice traps. They seem to have realized that there are no kitties in the laundry room and are entering and exiting through the vent for the dryer. I wonder if they like mozzarella or peanut butter....do you have some? I think you will need a kitty eventually, just sayin'. Let us know.

Carson,
We thought you had mice, but Jay checked the dryer vent and this bird flew out of the dryer. This was after he set traps from the feed room with pepperoni. The bird flew into the laundry room and then Jay got him into the garage and then opened the door and it flew out unharmed. It happened so fast that no photos were taken :(  (We thought it was the loudest mouse we had ever heard.)

While I'm sad no photographs were taken of the bird, the mouse trap with pepperoni bait, or the Ethelettes huddled in the laundry room trying to resolve this situation, the picture I have in my mind of this scene will keep me giggling until I return home.

  1. Oh, that's too funny. I bet Smooch was right in the middle of it....or wanting to be. At least it wasn't a snake.
Looking forward to seeing pictures from your trip.

  2. Hahahaha! Glad it is a bird/mouse crisis that got you giggling and not any donkey crisis! I wanna know what smooch was doing during all of the excitement!

  4. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say our imaginations can top that from reading about the bird. Whether it's stories told around a campfire, or on a scary night, our imaginations fill in the gaps between few words. Neat stuff Ethel.

  5. The birds that love my dryer vents are Starlings, but only during nesting season.

  9. a funny story even without the pics. they sound like they are having a great time. here in FL there are rats in palm trees, i share this with you since you are here in the state, and the best bait is slim jims. we keep a box of the original slim jims, and it catches them every time.
