Last weekend, I decided the leftover lumber had to go. My conscience wouldn't let me throw it away or burn it, so after staring at the pile for awhile, I began to visualize a project ... something useful and practical that I could piece together from the scraps at hand and which would not require one single trip to Home Depot.
I present for your inspection The Royal Palace, custom fit for an aging potbellied pig who isn't as limber as she used to be and who might appreciate a little more space than her pigloo. This larger habitat will allow her to more easily turn around and snuggle up in a deep bed of straw. It's not exactly fit for a queen, but with a coat of leftover paint, I think it will be quite adequate for the Porcine Princess.
I invited her into the garage to check it out.
Wynonna: I was expecting something a bit nicer – perhaps some art on the walls,
a few satin pillows, maybe one of those mini-bars so I can help myself to late-night snacks.

Wynonna: And don't forget the heating pad.
Boy, that's some first class accommodations! Wynonna should be one happy piggie!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Like Wy, I always fantasized about having a soda fountain at the end of my bed...Dr. Pepper all night long. Bliss.
ReplyDeleteGreat story. She is turning her back on Buckingham, but I'm sure when the weather turns cold she'll cozy up in there like a pig in a rug. Great job, Carson.
ReplyDeleteQuite wonderful but I'm thinking that a padded threshold might be in order to prevent belly and nip chafing. Perhaps something in a color coordinated polar fleece?Just noticing/saying.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Wynonna for putting a smile on my face this morning!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she get a big screen TV monitor so she can keep an eye on her food prep (and you)in the house?
Nice job on the palace. I'm sure she'll love it when the colder weather hits. Perhaps some art work will entice her inside!
ReplyDeleteSatillite TV may coax her inside eh! ;p
ReplyDeleteLucky Wynonna! Piggies don't move bedrooms easily, so just a tip - take the bedding from her pigloo (even if it is straw that you think needs changing or a blanket you'd like to wash first, just use it as is for the first few nights) and put it in the new one. I'm betting she'll love her new princessly abode by winter. Some strawberries or a slice of watermelon on her pillow might help as well.
ReplyDeleteI bet once it is moved into place with straw, a little snack, she will move right in. Nice job on the Palace. It is fit for a Queen!!
ReplyDeleteWow! A hinged top and decorative mitered door trim. I'm impressed. Hopefully when you put it in her area and get the straw in and fluffed for her, she'll be more interested. Maybe a mirror!
ReplyDeleteIt's so southwestie with those colors... I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! Wynonna is right though, a little artwork on the walls would be a nice touch. Got any left over bones?
