I went outside at lunchtime yesterday to check on the herd.
It's so hot and dry and smoky that I just assume if I'm cranky and uncomfortable, they must be as well.
Wrong. They were all gathered in the barn seeming quite content, especially Alan.
I love taking pictures in the barn because the light is usually perfect. The space is a little confining, though,
and I often find myself running out of room when trying to get everyone in the frame.
So I back up into the feed room to get a better angle, which causes a ruckus and the snowball starts to roll downhill.
George: Hank, we were here first. Don't you dare butt in.
(roll your mouse over the photo for the full effect of George's threat)
Hank: Try and stop me.
Me: Lucy, you'd best get over here before it's too late.
Lucy: Have I missed anything?
Me: Nope. You're just in time.
What a treat! No wonder they were crowding you.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder they put up with your camera in the barn. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the 1sr picture. What a great face.
ReplyDeleteBest always, Sandra
The tongues just slay me. I would think they would start rushing you for this tasty treat as soon as you stepped outside.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I love all the pictures, but that 1st one is so amazing and cute.
ReplyDeleteTreats!
I love a soft muzzle and that first shot captures that sweet spot perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThe jockeying for position, the earspeak, the tongue... it had to be watermelon. And the 1st picture says so much. What a lucky bunch!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! You are a peach to those boys and Lucy (or should I say you are a sweet melon to them?).
ReplyDeleteOh, my! That first close up muzzle picture is a winner in my book. How cute was that with the little piece of straw sticking out?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does Hank have very asymetrical nostrils? At first I thought he was snearing, but next photo is the same. Or is the blaze make it an optical illusion? He's still the handsomest in my book.
ReplyDeleteOh, adorable! Loved that tongue sticking out in the frame with the watermelon! They are all so charming and fun! I love when you share about them.
