I thought we were going to revisit Mr/Mrs. Bullsnake with the orange tail living under your A/C compressor. It was nice to see Steve again. Glad he is enjoying this hot weather.
We use the appearance of the turtles in spring to let us know the snakes are awake. It's probably just taken Steve three months to make his way from his hibernation den to your house.
Helllllloooooooo,Steve! Two burning questions: 1. Who is visiting that you didn't tell us about? Steve usually appears when you have a visitor! 2. Speaking of visitors -- have we had a "Mr. P" siting recently?
You really have the best eyes for spotting that fella! What a thrill to see him again and I feel honoured to have met this celebrity myself, in person.
Ok, we ALL thought it was going to be Pinkie, but it was nice to see Steve. We have Eastern Box Turtle season in June when they all come out to tango . We caught one laying eggs next to the patio. We spent 20 minutes watching her. Turtles are awesome. It is like watching a dinosaur. Are you sure that Steve is a boy? Some species can be sexed by the shape of the snout. I don't know how, it's just something I read.
Does he/she show up around the same time every year?

ReplyDeleteHe could probably use some water since it is so dry.

ReplyDeleteI love that. So much open space there and yet you still have routine visits from Steve.

Hi Steve!! Glad to see he is still around. How long do box turtles live anyway?
ReplyDeleteHowdy Steve. It's great to see you again this year. Greetings from the herd o' turtles here at Casa de Cuckoo.
ReplyDeleteNothing gets past you....and you put Lucy right up next to him. Have you ever tried riding her without a bit?

ReplyDeleteI hope you have another sighting soon!
That must mean all is still right with the world. (Or as much as can be expected to be right, at least.)
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile a great deal. Thank you :)
