There are some weeks when I have to work too damned hard. This is one of them.
Countdown to retirement:
12 years, 1 month, 25 days or
4437 days or
106,488 hours or
633 weeks.
(This site did the calculating. I love the internet.)
I've heard that the older you get, the faster time flies. I've also heard that time flies when you're having fun. For a fun-loving old-ish person like myself, I guess this means that my retirement date is just around the corner. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Numbers and deep thoughts have a way of making my head explode.
Move over, Snapper. I need a nap.
I can vouch for time passing faster the older you get, and also for time passing quickly when you're having fun, but that's when you're retired! Hand in there. Just think pleasant thoughts of nothing but 24/7 with your animals and being able to take naps whenever you want!!!
ReplyDeleteSome told me retirement is doing what you love and getting paid for it. Yesterday I was retired (fun project! Weee!). The day before, not so much (plod, plod, plod. Is it 5 yet? Plod plod plod)
ReplyDeleteSnapper totally has it down.
Reaching retirement is sort of a double-edged sword! We all can't wait to get there (so we can stop working), but getting there means getting old!
ReplyDeleteThe lucky ones are the ones who really love their jobs!
I love retirement. Despite the fact that I can't remember anything and I am now very unorganized (not so in my past life) I absolutely bless every day that comes that I don't have to work. What a feeling! Yesterday was an afternoon skate on an outdoor rink in the sun. Today antique stores and friends, coffee and stories. It doesn't get any better than that.
ReplyDeleteBefore you turn around twice you will be retired. Time flies. No doubt.I know you will love being retired.
Best always, Sandra
I like the smallest number (633)--go with that one. It'll go by much more quickly that way.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Snapper, a nap is a good idea.
I've been counting mine down for a while now and its currently at 1,328 days-14 hrs, 40 min, and 28 seconds!!!! THEN finally after 48 YRS of WORKing I can play, if I have the strength~
ReplyDeleteWell , we are simi-retired and yes, time FLIES and I wonder where yesterday went :) there is so much to enjoy in life it's hard to work it all in...ain't life grand? Jeanne from SC
ReplyDeleteTime goes SOOO fast when one is retired. I remember doing the countdown when I still had just over nine years to go - and before I knew it, the day had arrived (okay, I hastened it a bit by retiring earlier than planned). Now, I don't know how I ever had time to work for pay, and I can't believe it has been nearly three years since I left the workplace for the last time. I LOVE retirement.
ReplyDeleteI retired last June and I'm bored to tears. The first couple of months I got the yard and the animals all spiffed and taken care of, now there's not as much for me to do outside as when I worked and only had weekends. Sleeping in seems like a waste of good sunlight. I haven't adjusted well, I guess that's still to come.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cuddly kitty. I'm hoping my retirement will begin next month. *smile* Hope springs eternal...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're having such a tough week, Linda. Goodness knows the days can be overwhelming at times. How you do it all, all by yourself I'll never know.
