Rush hour around here begins after supper.
Hank is the first to speed down the path to the back 40,
with George, Alan and Lucy following too closely behind him.
Traffic flows smoothly until Hank makes an abrupt stop to talk to the lady with the camera.
George: Use your signals, why don't you?
George: I hate the way he drives.
Hank: I hate the way they tailgate.
Traffic is bumper to bumper but moving steadily...
...until the big guy brakes again.
George: Oh, for cryin' out loud. MOVE IT!
Lucy: I hope the cops don't catch me driving on the shoulder.
George: He's swerving all over the place!
Alan: Stay in your lane!
Hank: Hrrmph. Bunch of backseat drivers. What do they know?

So the pictures aren't that great and neither is the commentary. For the funny part of this post, you have to imagine the lady with the camera sprinting down the path as fast as her short legs will carry her to get in front of the procession, then turning around, catching her breath, snapping a few shots, then sprinting down the path again, turning around, snapping a few shots, etc., all the while muttering under her breath, "I'm so glad nobody is watching this."
I got a big kick out of the pics AND the commentary, but I really laughed over imagining what you said you did to take those pics! Great way to start my day!

ReplyDeleteI love this one! I get such a kick out of the fact that they have that deep a path and that (mostly) they use it. The traffic pile-up is hilarious, but even funnier and more intriguing to me is Alan, who looks in the last photo like he is 'off the beaten path' - I love it.

Actually, I too enjoyed this post, just as it is. And look at the scenery you must suffer through each evening with your family in the foreground and those sunset lit hills in the background! It's just great.

ReplyDeleteThe added commentary about the photographers antics did bring some fun imagery to mind. Regardless, I find it so amusing that the equines stick to their 'road'! How funny!

Actually the commentary is pretty funny. I imagine the same sorts of conversations between my critters.

Do you believe in coincidences? As I was looking at your pictures and reading your captions I was thinking about how you manage to ALWAYS come up with the perfect, funny thing to say about them. No matter how often your animal family members do the same thing, you make it feel fresh and funny. I can almost hear them talking (or muttering under their breaths). Keep up the good work, Carson; we love it and have come to love you and your animals. I'll say a prayer for Wynonna and you for an easy trip to the vet and back.

ReplyDeleteAs far as no one watching, well at least you do not have close neighbors. I do, and I am sure they keep a strong eye on the antics in my pasture! Yes I do crazy things too, just to get some photo shots....
