I'll be using this and the next several Saturday Encore posts to reminisce about meeting Lucy online and making the decision
to bring her to the 7MSN sight unseen. At this time last year, I was fretting about driving up to Colorado to bring her home
and bemoaning the fact that I would have to wait until spring to go get her. But then there was a change in plans...

I was on the phone with Lucy's keeper last week and asked her if Lucy had ever worn a blanket.
She said no but she would give it a try.
Lucy: I like how it keeps my ears warm.
Lucy: Works pretty good as a butt warmer, too.
Lucy: I think blue may be my color.
Lucy: Of course I'm not afraid to walk on it. I'm not afraid of anything.
It's not that I think Lucy will need a blanket here in New Mexico,
but I thought she might be more comfortable wearing one on the trailer ride from Colorado.
Wait a second...didn't you tell us you weren't going to get Lucy until spring?
There's been a change in plans. I got to thinking about the thousand-mile roundtrip to Colorado
and how stressful it can be to haul the horse trailer, even when weather isn't an issue.
Why not hire somebody to haul Lucy to me? So that's the new plan.
I don't know yet when she'll be arriving, but she'll be getting here before spring does.
And, yes, I'm so excited I can barely stand it.
I remember the first time I read this post. This time is just the same with chill bumps and a big grin!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LUCY!
She does look good in blue, doesn't she. What a girl....doesn't seem possible that it has been a year already. Hugs
ReplyDeleteit was exciting the first time around for sure. and reading it again, it so super to know that not only was it a good idea to get Lucy, it was a fabulous idea and has worked out so well. Happy Lucy Anniversary thoughts. Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteI missed out on this the first time, so am enjoying the tale. I could feel your angst about hauling a trailer that far, I've hauled horses to Tennessee in January and will NEVER do that again, my knuckles stayed white for months. You're a smart lady.
ReplyDeleteI remember worrying about you making that long trip to Colorado hauling the trailer...and was so relieved when you hired someone
ReplyDeleteLucy is the girl of your dreams, and more, isn't she ? :)
I love that you are redoing this series of posts about Lucy. She is SO patient and calm. I don't remember you asking if she would haul around skulls, spines or collections of bones so that was just be an added bonus! Can't wait for the next installment. You are going to have the one where you were waiting for here. And then meeting the herd. We need all of it! This is fun.
