A reason to be jolly

After I dropped Danni off at the airport yesterday, I stopped by Morning Bray Farm to visit my new nephew, Patrick.

If you were worried that his spirit might have been broken by three years of abuse,

I'm here to tell you he's quickly getting the hang of how to be a happy donkey.

  1. This little guy is simply amazing, as is everyone around him giving him so much love and attention and helping him ease into a happy, normal life.

  2. I bet your heart was singing while you watched him learn what to do with that Jolly Ball!
What a joy to see the little guy coming into his own.

  3. Well it is Saint Patrick's Day and he has a green toy to play with. You might hold off on the green beer though, till you know he won't make an ass out of himself.

  4. That is so good to see! He's going to be frolicking with Bernard in no time!

(Is that Bernard with his ears back heading for the jolly ball?)

  5. And he was obviously comfortable enough with his Aunt Linda to show you that he was happy you were here. :)

  6. I'm new, but dear Patrick! He looks like he needs a good hug and a playmate. (Although I don't know a thing about burros. I'm a goat person!)

  9. Such a good aunt! I'm so relieved for Patrick. I had never heard of using burro's for roping and when I saw the very 1st picture of him, it broke my heart. I'm so happy he's now at Morning Bray. Way to go guys!

  12. Nephew Patrick is a sweet soul. Toys already must mean he's gonna be just fine in no time. The Olde Bagg, Linda

Happy St. Patricks Day to all Donkey, Burro lovers.

  16. I really dislike the practice of using donkeys for roping. People here in Colorado are buying the donkeys for that purpose and I think it should be banned along with cow stripping. Patrick has found a wonderful forever home. He is a lucky donkey.

  17. I love the donkeys. I think about you every time I see one and I saw 5 today. But, where's the cool cat Deets?

  18. Oh, I wasn't worried about Patrick one bit. I'd say he died and went to heaven.
Although I really wanted Danni to bring him home to me.
I, too, have been looking at riding mules and donkeys but they are very expensive here. Lucy looks like a blast to ride.
