Then I happened upon an article just before Black Friday that mentioned 32" flat panel LCD tvs were at record-low prices. That was the information I needed to push me over the edge. I shopped online for the best buy, which happened to be at Best Buy. Sight unseen, I bought a tv, which I picked up at the store in Albuquerque over the weekend.
The hard part was over, finally! Now all I had to do was install a wall mount in the bedroom. And hope like heck that the new tv would fit on the old wall mount in the living room. Then hoist both tvs onto their respective wall mounts without dropping them. Then connect all the black spaghetti. Geek Squad? We don't need no stinkin' Geek Squad. Famous last words...
Smooch: Are you sure you know what you're doing?
and Smooch settled in to watch her favorite show...the livestock auction.
Me: Excuse me? That's my side of the bed. Now move over.
Two thumbs up for you Carson!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a very brave lady to take on such tasks, and how cool is it that Smooch can now lay in bed and watch her favorite show with the newest technology .. Wally's totally jealous!
Haha! Better hide your credit cards or you may find she's gotten herself a bidding pass and you may find yourself with a herd!
ReplyDeleteHats off to you Carson! We had to entice my geek computer son over to program ours for us and set it up. I'm still confused over 3 remotes to get one TV to work with Dish. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteGood job.
Bravo! for installing that mess by yourself.
ReplyDeleteSmooch is priceless watching tv. What happens if you put on something less animal friendly? Does she stop watching?
Well done smooch ;-) you look to darn comfortable,,,yawn.zzzzzz

If I'd known you needed help deciding on a TV I would have asked my husband. He's very good at that kind of stuff. Before we bought our new lcd's he did a lot of research to learn as much as possible and make sure we got the most for our money.
ReplyDeleteNow he's telling me that LED tv's are the new, hot thing ...the picture is so much better, blah, blah, blah *sigh* We are NOT buying another tv!
Glad everything worked out and Smooch finally has the tv of her dreams ; )
Aren't you going to get a terrible crick in the neck watching TV from your bed...sideways?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and well done!
ReplyDeleteLinda, oh, wow! You are quite handy! Great story! Now you both can settle in and watch TV!
ReplyDeleteWow! Good for you. It just shouldn't be that complicated should it?
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
I have my own resident geek but the flat screen we bought for upstairs is still not connected. I think we bought it in June?
ReplyDeleteYou done good.
Wow...I would never be brave enough to install a TV like that! Poor Smooch is all tuckered out from supervising, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go. And I bet you weren't too proud to read the directions. I am always amazed at the left over parts when my husband does things. "Aw we don't that."
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed! Way to go, gurl....who didn't need no stinkin' qeek squad! Love the pictures of Smooch watching it.
ReplyDeleteYou are woman.....ROAR!
ReplyDeleteGood job, Linda!
How cute! Smooch has excellent taste in tv shows. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should get Smooch her own remote. Maybe she'd like to watch some Dog Whisperer and just can't bear to get up and change the channel.
ReplyDeleteYou continue to amaze & impress me. I suspect there are a (few) bottles of wine discarded in the corner, or perhaps under the dead cow in the living room, after that ordeal...
ReplyDeleteI am so in admiration of you to take on a task like that. I keep telling my techy friends "Why can't I buy a TV that you take out of the box and just plug into the wall socket?" BTW, I love your banner photo of the snow. It's beautiful and has great texture. Even though I live on the Oregon coast, have never met you...I check in on your blog almost every day just because it's so darn interesting and I love your photography.
ReplyDeleteI know ... doesn't it just take forever to get those things installed. This wire goes here and that there and then it doesn't work and then the set up begins. And, that's all after you brought the box inside the house. All worth it though in the end for the dog to be able to relax while watching tv.
ReplyDeleteSmooch ~ you're killin' me!
ReplyDeleteThe poodles like watching HGTV, the cat prefers Martha Stewart. Thankfully they can't use the Comcast remote. Smooch looks adorable watching t.v. Congrats on your t.v. installation projects!
ReplyDeletebuying a TV is waaaayyyy to damn hard.... a few years ago we bought a TV, took it back, bought another, took it back, tried to do some more research that is always changing and finally ended up with a big ole piece of crap that we hate......so yes, you need a degree in TVology to get the right fit for you! glad it worked out for you!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your accomplishment! I'm surprised you were able to lift and hold a 32" to mount on the wall.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I still have my 25"/19" deep/100? pound TV still in the entertainment center in living area where 2 people put it! It still works great, but no HDTV and I can't move it on my own.....
Proud of you! I'm not sure I could have ever figured it out.
ReplyDeletePS: Linda, your new header makes me very cold to look at; I'll have to come to your site and close my eyes until I can scroll down a bit :)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing!!! MUCH better than us. We bought a new DVD/VCR player. Took us SIX MONTHS to figure out how to get it to work with our DirectTV. No lie.
ReplyDeleteYou really are amazing. My hat's off to you again!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the new header :D
ReplyDeleteYou really did a great job for smoochs convenience! Now she needs a handy to act fast for her favourite auctions.
ReplyDeleteIdea for next challenge: Installing cameras along the fence line for doing her ranch security monitorings during snowy times right from that comfortable place.
"Who ya gonna call?" The squad at the 7MSN!
