The tv lady said that the Whips could be eaten refrigerated or frozen. Frozen? Hmmm. I might have to try that, I thought.
Advertiser's dream that I am, on my last trip to Walmart, I picked up a few containers of Yoplait Whips – the Orange Cream and Key Lime flavors – and stuck them in the freezer.
But before we go there, how is it that Yoplait at my Walmart used to cost 74 cents but for the past few months costs only 58 cents? That makes no sense. I'm not complaining, because spending 74 cents on six ounces of anything makes me feel guilty no matter how good it tastes, but now that it's only 58 cents, well let's just buy a whole case. Where were we? Oh, yeah. The Whips.
Despite the fact that Smooch has her own yogurt treats to snack on, I always let her lick my yogurt container once I've extracted as much as I possibly can with my spoon.
And we're both here to tell you that this frozen Yoplait Whips stuff is stinkin' good. (And Yoplait has no idea who I am and is not paying me to say this.) The texture, the taste, the price ... it all adds up to our new favorite snack. Smooch and I wanted to share this news so you could enjoy it, too. Bone appétit.
The "Whips" have been around here a while and I had tried them way back when, but frozen?!?! Now that sounds wonderful, especially the two flavors mentioned, and especially with the horribly hot weather we've been having.
ReplyDeleteIs Smooch like Wally Carson ... I'll share mine mom if you share yours. Yep, Wally has that same look as Smooch, and how can you refuse?
Licking the empty yogurt container is a big treat at our house as well. And I better hurry it up if I don't want the big one to leave huge goober trails in anticipation.
ReplyDeleteMay I taste, Mom?
ReplyDeleteMmm.
May I have this, please, to stick my tongue way down inside and get every last tasty creamy smear?
Thank you, Mom.
Such a gentle little gift accepter.
Mmmm. Gotta get some.
ReplyDeleteOne thing, Yoplait containers, the way they are designed, get stuck on wildlife. Be sure to cut the containers when you toss them...
we rescued a skunk with one back in november 2008, I did a post on it.
Just a PSA for our stinky friends. :)
Breathe, now there's one more reason to hate the shape of those Yoplait containers. Seriously, what's the point of making the top smaller than the bottom? It just makes it harder for Smooch to enjoy her part.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of freezing them! That would be really good in this nasty summer heat. My boys like Yoplait "whips" a lot, also the lime and orange kinds. I like just about any of 'em. :) Hubby likes lemon once in awhile, but he goes for a cheap(er) brand.
ReplyDeleteSmooch has the neatest expressions! Really comes through in the photos. :)
I always recycle our yogurt containers, but I didn't know that about them! (getting stuck on wildlife). Our dogs love to slurp up whatever I don't eat!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought that only went on in our house. I even try to ease the spoon out and open the refrig door quietly and they always hear it. Mine is Activia so I guess their stomaches are doing good too.
ReplyDeleteThe key lime is my all time favorite! Love the whips. Smooch is so dang intelligent looking. I mean, look at those eyes. How can you NOT know this is a smart dog...
ReplyDeleteAnd it's good for you, too.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs get to extend their tongues to their full length when licking out the yogurt containers. Everyone wins. :)
I love Raspberry Whips....but never tried it frozen. Off to WM I go. It will be interesting to see what the price is in our neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Yoplait came up with a terrible design. Not only could it get caught on some small critter's head, it cuts my tongue when I try to lick it out!!!!!
I saw that commercial with the frozen Yoplait Whips. It sure does look good-I'll have to give it a try. our dog always getss the almost empty containers to polish off. I too, cut the containers before tossing them.
ReplyDeleteDreaming, I'm so glad you fessed up. I don't feel so alone now in my guilt.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'm a Danone fan myself. Vanilla or Peach flavours only. We probably can't get Whips up here yet. We're like the retarded cousin when it comes to new product releases...or perhaps you're our Royal Tasters down south. *grin*
ReplyDeleteI will have to try that. I usually get the vanilla lowfat everything one. My dog, Maddy Jean, loves to lick the container afterwards. She's a milk, ice cream, yogurt lover.
ReplyDeleteLove Smooch's expression. Especially in the second pic.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sound like a glutton but I wish the Whips came in a bigger container. Because the contents are "whipped", there is less to eat.
I tried your yogurt treats with my dogs and they are a big hit! But the paper cups collapse, and one of my dogs is clever at pulling the cup from my hand and eating it. So I have been saving the plastic cups from Jello and use those to make the yogurt treats.I can hang on to the cup better so the dog doesn't get that paper dietary supplement!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool thing to do! Thanks for the review! I'll check the price here and the expiration date....
ReplyDeleteI try to put all plastic in my recycle bucket. The plastic rings holding 6 packs of soft drinks are really dangerous for animals.
Bone appetit....hahahhaha......
ReplyDeleteWell, yum! Thank you Carson and Smooch... we're going to get some to try this weekend. Sounds absolutely delish.
ReplyDeleteBUT...how do they compare fat/calories-wise? Hmmm? I think my Walmart is dropping the price of the low fat/light Yoplait to compete (at least try) with the Weight Watchers yogurt. WW adds some fiber so they get the "impact" of the food lower than the Yoplait. And at my Walmart the WW is coming in at 55 cents recently.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I heard the same guy that designed the Yoplait containers used to have a gig designing mayonnaise jars.
ReplyDeleteI buy my yogurt, the store brand, at Krogers Grocery and it's VERY tasty. They are only 40 cents each. May have to try your brand though... and freeze it of course.
ReplyDeleteI let our rottie, Handsome, lick the yogurt container when I'm done. There are some flavors he's not too fond of though.
Di
Wow, so much good information here in the comments too. That stuff actually looks good enough to eat. Key lime???? MMMMMMMMM.
ReplyDeleteToby, the Aussie-mix, loves to lick out any yogurt carton that's available, but Amber (white cat) expects to lick the lid, and I've never been able to sneak one around there - they're on to me ;o)
ReplyDeleteI've seen the ad for them saying to try them frozen. Has sounded good but haven't tried it. I like Yoplait but try to stay away from the whips b/c I feel like it is really just 1/2 the amount of yogurt as the regulars mixed in with a whole lot of air and they charge the same amount.....just a sneaky way to cut back......but I may have to try them frozen.
ReplyDeleteseriously.....We used to let our Bali lick out of the yogurt containers......I may even have one of those "same" pics :)
My dog gets to lick out the yogurt containers too. It's the only non-dog food thing he gets (pancreatitis). He loves when i eat yogurt.
ReplyDeleteI love smooch's face.
