George and Alan were napping when I went out to feed lunch yesterday.
Let's see how close we can get before they wake up.
Walk softly, Deets. You're in a designated napping zone.
Listen ... can you hear Alan grunting and groaning and sighing? It's a burro thing.
We're all watching you, Alan. Don't start drooling and embarassing yourself.
I don't think he heard me.
One ear is up...he's on to us.
Hi, sleepyhead. Did you enjoy your nap?
Who are all those people and why are they looking at me?
Don't take it personally. He's always a little grumpy when he wakes up.
I absolutely loved this post Carson! Made me laugh, made me smile, made me go, "Oooooooh, how sweet these boys are!" I guess I never thought of them napping like that, but why not ... they've got a beautiful place to relax and take it easy.
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden I want to lay down and have a snooze in the sunshine :-) snore.........

He looks like me in the morning. There's nothing nicer than an afternoon nap in the spring sun. It's been a long time coming.
ReplyDeleteBest always, Sandra
I so love donkeys and your pictures always make my day...Thanks for all the morning smiles.
ReplyDeleteThey are sleeping like babies, very sweet. And Alan, I know how you feel - beeing disturbed in the middle of a wonderful nap is tough. Looks like Deets were hanging with them there, and just came to meet you halfway? Guess he was watching out.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of contentment. Lucky little burros.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! They must have so been enjoying the warm sunshine and no wind yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI love it when horses (and burro's) lie flat out on their sides like that. So cute.
ReplyDeleteIf I were Alan, I'd totally hit the snooze button. :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute - I'm amazed, how do you keep coming up with these funny pictorials?
ReplyDeleteYou sure they haven't been hittin' the loco weed?
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute. Thanks for the morning smile.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Those boys were really zonked! I love gently walking up to my horses when they are laying down, and then when they stay there and I can pet them and love on them, it's even more special!
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Alan are on Equusite today!!!

Makes me want to curl up with one and hit the snooze button. Hope Hank is doing well too.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm....naps.....
ReplyDeleteThose boys were really out!
But wait....you feed LUNCH at your place? I'm totally not passing on that little nugget of info here at my place!
Ah, the wonderful sounds of the grunting and groaning! Great pics. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the big bellies.
ReplyDeleteCats, dogs and equines know the true are of zonking. That was a lovely, and fun, sequence of photos.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that they can stretch out and feel totally safe! Thanks Carson for giving them such a good home!
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics. How cute! They looked like little old men taking a siesta.
ReplyDeleteThey lifted relaxation to an art level. Lucky them who can enjoy such a peaceful nap!
ReplyDeleteThey do look like they are having an awesome snooze. I'm kind of a worry wart about siestas. Sometimes I look out at my sleeping boys and worry that they are not merely sleeping. I get out the binoculars and check for rib cage moving or ear twitches.
ReplyDeleteAWWWW that is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteAlways sleeping on the job. You caught them!
ReplyDeleteOh, who wouldn't love Alan! Great suspense leading up to him finally waking up a little bit!
ReplyDeleteLooks like they got a good nap in!! I wish I could do the same!! Those guys are adorable in any position!
ReplyDeleteLooooovvvvve it!!!!!! When I come back I want to come back as one of your donkeys. heehee!!
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't sleep like that with Deets on watch!! What a great group!

These guys are such "persons"....I mean they each are so distinct and dear, beyond words. I think if I saw them sleeping like that I might worry that maybe they were no longer with us....lol....It's a good thing there is some grunting and groaning.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightfully dear Post. But then....ALL your posts are delightful and dear.
Huhs to Alan and George and Deets and YOU!
I love them on their sides...so trusting. But I ALWAYS pause to see the rib cage rise and fall, or an ear twitch. It's just me.
