Frosty Paws, from the frugal gourmet

Warning: catchy tune coming up. Please don't hate me if you're humming all day.

  1. HURRAY!! Seems like Smooch likes 'homemade' more then the original ... she's really digging in, and Wynonna too. I'll be making some soon for Wally.

I'm SO glad that I ran across that recipe! It can't cost near as much as the original.

  2. Wynonna ... lol! Nothing like a spoiled pig : )

I think I might make those! My dogs LOVE banana, especially with peanut butter. My husband thinks I'm nutty for giving it to them but I don't care. It's one of their favorite treats!

  3. I think I'll have to whip up a batch for the Schnauzer boys today. They say thanks for the recipe!

LOVED watching the video of Smooch and Wynonna enjoying their treats. They were in heaven. :)

    The song was perfect, too.

  5. Oh man! I'll have to wait until I get home to see the video. Cute post. That was an awfully small bite for a pig! Does she follow you around asking for more?

  6. Smooch looks so focused on the task at hand - she obviously loved the recipe. Thanks for the review and the recipe... we'll definitely be making it here! Love ya Wynona!

  7. Thanks for the morning laughs! That recipe is so easy, and I'm sure it will be a big hit here. Wondering if I can teach my dogs to hold the cups with their paws so I don't have to do all the work!

Glad Wynonna got to do some taste-testing of her own!

  8. Yup...that catchy little tune will brighten my day today. I need a pick-me-up since we have 5 inches of snow and drifts over my boot tops :-(

Think I'll go eat some yogurt!

    Thanks for the cute video.

  10. That sounds way better than the store-bought version that probably has preservatives in it and stuff. Besides, the little cups are so cheerful. What's not to like?

  11. Yay! I love this! Frosty Paws & Snouts! I'm glad Wynonna got in on the action. Ohhhhh you will never be able to open the freezer again without Smooch's ever present hopefulness.

  12. Oh dear! Does this mean the Winona will be growing "paws"!?! Cute post. I did wonder why you didn't just peal the paper cup back from the treat and give it to Smooch--but I suppose she would just scarf it down in one fell swoop--takes away some of the enjoyment, both for her and for her audience.

  13. Big smile all the way through the video! Something very sweet about a dog and a pig enjoying their treats so much.

  14. I need to make these for Willie! And one day I'll have a pig to give the ends to!

  15. Minus the yogurt, my mom used to make these for us as kids - on popsicle sticks, that is, not for us to lick out of cups (though I'm sure we'd have been more than happy to do so - who cares about table manners when they're eight years old?). I like the idea of a healthy treat that can be enjoyed by people with two and four legs equally.

Oh well, at least I can picture Wy and Smooch enjoying their lovely treat at the same time! ;)

Wynona looks like she could use a bigger container---maybe a gallon bucket!

    Great post.

  21. So this is for dogs???!! We are dog-less for the time but I may just have to make some up for my 3 year old (okay and me too) soon!

  22. Looks delish! I'll have to make some up and do a test-feeding. Need to make sure the paper cup doesn't get finished off too! Thanks so much for the recipe!

No problem re extra step. I gave my baby "frosty paws" many years ago. I now live in the boonies and the treats aren't available. This recipe means my Yorkies will get to enjoy a healthy frozen treat. Thank you very much.

  24. HAHA. I love it! Just remember to check the yogurt for the artificial sweetener Xylitol which is very toxic to dogs. -- The song makes it perfect. :-)
