When I took these pictures yesterday, every once in a while, they'd find a root and eat it. Makes you think I didn't feed them four times a day, but I do, honest!
This must be a donkey thing. Yesterday the horse were grazing along, looking for little nubs they had missed the last couple weeks. Pistol Pete was pawing...pawing. No snow to get through, mushy pastures. But that is exactly what he was doing. Pawing to find tender roots. Now I don't mind that but, dummy, if you eat the roots the plant does NOT come back in the spring.
Now you would never catch a black cat with a dirty face like that...no no no it just wouldn't happen. You made my day once again, Carson. Best always, Sandra
Fantastic pictures Carson, but why are the guys digging up dirt? Do they want to lay down on warmer ground?
ReplyDeleteIs there some mineral they are after or do they just have weird tastes? Eat dirt! No, you eat dirt!
ReplyDeleteAnyway you go about it though, they sure are cute.
omnomnom dirt
ReplyDeleteBeing burro-less, I have no idea what they're doing... except that it makes for cute pictures! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteDo you think they're digging for minerals like wild burros do?
ReplyDeleteThose noses look sooooo soft.
Hmmm, bet it tastes like dirt, too!
ReplyDeleteMinerals!
ReplyDeleteOurs are doing that too, right now, not to mention chewing on some tree bark. It's that time of year.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they're miners? Carson, you might be able to expand the ranch if they hit pay dirt.
ReplyDeleteClearly they are halfway there!
We have a dog that does the same thing. She digs up dirt and then sticks her nose in it.
ReplyDeleteIncredible cute!! And the nose pictures - please have mercy - that's just too much, I can almost hear them sniff out the goodies!
ReplyDeleteI like the miners comment, Breathe! Never know what they might find!

ReplyDeletetruffle hunters!
ReplyDeleteHilarious!
ReplyDeleteThey're hilarious. I would love to know what's really going on between those adorable ears of theirs.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if they are eating dirt, I still want to plant a big ole kiss on those muzzles!
ReplyDeleteMy horses do that looking for alfalfa roots in the winter; there must be some nutrients they need. Such cute noses!

They know what they're doing, but we can only guess.
ReplyDeleteHA! Love this one, made me smile.
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Alan are always together, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteIf you were a Good Mom, you would dig roots for them. :-\
