A New Year's wish from the three amigos

I went outside to let George and Alan out of the barn after they had finished their breakfast, but they had no interest in leaving the warm and sunny dry spot in front of their stall. Deets showed up the minute I did. He was getting underfoot as I angled for better pictures of the burros. I didn't want to step on him, so I picked him up and set him on the most convenient, out-of-the-way spot.

He settled right in and made himself comfortable.

George didn't seem to mind.

Alan plopped down next to George...

...and the three amigos enjoyed their siesta together.

All of us wish you a new year filled with good friends to lean on, naps in the sun, and the special peace, happiness and contentment that comes from the company of animals.

  2. Oh, I just LOVE that last photo. They all look so relaxed and happy there in the sun together! Are burros as sweet and laid back as they appear?

  4. I'm taking a queue from the animals. I'll relax more in 2010. Everybody looks so happy in the sunshine. I'm so glad Deets is back to his regular cat self. He might even learn to ride?
Have a quiet and happy New Year, Carson and I will too.
Thanks for all the laughs in 2009.
    Best always, Sandra

Oh my goodness. We have cats that will ride on our horses, but i really don't think they would let me set one on them when they are laying down like that. These pictures are awesome and so are your four-legged friends.:)

  15. I can't stand how wonderful those pictures are! The burro brothers just warm my heart---and to think they were running wild less than 2 years ago.

  16. Makes me want to lie down right there with them! I also want to point out how far things have come with George and Alan and how mellow they are compared to when you first got them. It shows what love and a safe haven can do for animals that once lived in the wild. Happy New Year to you and all your wonderful buddies at the 7 MSN!

  25. This is amazing. And the last photo, with Deets' face turned to the sun, and George beeing in the center, the one they are cuddling up around. And it is indeed good to know that Deets didn't turn skiddish after his accident.

Thank you for all your amazing posts - I look forward every day to take a break, grab a cup of coffee and read your blog. Seeing you taking care of your animals and treating them with the respect and love they deserve makes me happy. From the other side of the globe: Wishing you and your companions all the best in the New Year!

  50. Could they possibly be any cuter? I mean, come on! You really need to consider renting a room out at your place. I bet it would be booked a year in advance for the chance to get an up close and personal peek at the crew!
