It's 5:00 somewhere, right?

I'm not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel yet. I've already cooked more in one afternoon than I do in a week and there are three more recipes in the to-do pile.

Smooch is enjoying her afternoon in the kitchen way more than I am. She loves all the new smells. Tell me again why Christmas dinner is always at my house?

I know just what this culinary/blogging marathon needs.

The quiche came out quite nicely. I'm preparing everything I can this afternoon, for baking tomorrow. Catch a whiff of this before I take it out to the garage walk-in cooler.

Next up...wash the ever-growing stack of dishes, then on to the Onion Blue Cheese Sauce, the roasted mushrooms, and the biggest mess of all – the dinner roll dough. And somewhere in there, feed the animals, drink more wine, dust, drink more wine, set the table, drink more wine...the last post of the day might be pretty interesting!

Thanks for all your comments this afternoon. It's like having all my friends helping me in the kitchen. Now if there were only a way to put a dish towel in your hands...

  1. That quiche looks gorgeous. Smart idea to open the wine and keep on cooking. Smooch must be having the best Christmas ever one day early. :-)

  2. Wine makes it all better. I know. Lobster steaming on the stove, glass of wine in my hand. You are going to have a wonderful time tomorrow. Get the dishes done and go to bed. Help is coming tomorrow.

  3. That glass of wine looks so much more inviting than the three-fifths they pour in restaurants! Cheers, and stay safe. We don't want you to have to ride Wynonna to the hospital.

  4. No question that cooking goes better with wine (instead of whine -- I learned one cancels out the other). What you've prepared so far looks great. Smooch looks like she would agree with that assessment. Have a great day tomorrow. Perhaps someone else will pitch in and do the dishes.
