Attached at the hip
This is my new favorite picture of Alan and George. It pretty much sums up their relationship – attached at the hip and always looking out for one another. (And for those of you who can't remember who's who, g is for grey, g is for George).
Yesterday morning, I was darting around, trying to get ready to go to an all-day meeting in Albuquerque. I had just gotten out of the shower, only to look out my bedroom window and see the burros standing north and south, watching opposite ends of their world. The morning light was its usual beautiful self, and I almost dismissed this photo op, thinking by the time I put some clothes on, found some shoes, switched lenses on the camera and walked outside to shoot, they would have moved. I watched them a little longer and declared "meeting be damned, so what if I'm late, I want this picture." And I got it. And I wasn't late for the meeting and I didn't get a speeding ticket. A lucky day all around.
Fabulous picture! I so enjoy your photos...
ReplyDeleteOK - this seals the deal.... at some time in my life I AM GOING TO HAVE 2 BURROS! I love them to pieces....
ReplyDeleteyou do have amazing light there.
ReplyDeleteburros look very reflective.
Well, I'm glad you made the shot (without being late, of course!). It's gorgeous...what beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture - and lovely burros, too!
ReplyDeletegood to have a friend ... you watch my back I'll watch yours
ReplyDeleteThat is the most awesome picture and I'm so glad you decided to stick around to get it ... the background is absolutely breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the burros and their relationship.
ReplyDeleteI've had moments like that too, where I think I need to do something else -- sometimes I've missed the picture and kicked myself for weeks, other times I've taken those few extra minutes and relished the moment for ever more! :) Great photo, glad you were able to get it on camera.
ReplyDeleteMeetings can wait (or be rescheduled). A shot like this must be taken!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
just darling, so glad to see burro's in such a happy, delightful environment
ReplyDeleteThis is just the funniest if not the most classic picture I have seen! I love it! I bet it would look as good in black & white, just for a different look.
ReplyDeleteYou should be selling these pictures of yours...............
It's like the Pushme-pullyu in Dr. Dolittle!
ReplyDeleteThe boys are like that old Simon and Garfunkel song about 'old friends, like bookends...'
ReplyDeleteand thank goodness you did!!! we all benefit!!!
ReplyDeleteYour critters are an endless source of delight for me. Thank you, so very much, for making and taking the time to share them.
Wonder what they're looking at---in separate directions?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you caught the pic and weren't late. Karma. Meant to be.
These 2 are toooooo Cute!!! And you have an amazing talent catching them at it! Love and Light, Nina P.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there an old saying..."an ass at both ends"? Maybe this is what they mean!
ReplyDeleteThat's one benefit of dropping out of the rat race -- taking the time to enjoy each beautiful moment. I love these guys!
ReplyDeleteBookends! You made the right choice to take a chance on being late for your meeting!
ReplyDeleteHAH! The George and Alan version of Dr. Doolittle's Pushmepullyou.
ReplyDeleteYou should sell your photos or make them into cards! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYAY...no speeding ticket, not late- how wonderful can life get?

Every morning I open your website, the instant the banner appears, so does my smile. Seeing those two playing in the dirt but the day in perspective. Thank you.
ReplyDeletecouple of hams...
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect picture. Made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot Linda! I'm convinced the animals think about these poses and wait for you to take their picture. UH-huh, you just han't told them about the meeting so they thought you had time. But, in the "end" they knew you'd make the right decision. The heck with meetings and speeding tickets, right?
ReplyDeleteNow, go by a lottery ticket!
What a FANTASTIC Picture! And the morning light sets these two good friends off, perfectly!
ReplyDeleteYou could not have planned that picture better!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth it!! Awesome photo...glad you took the time~~
ReplyDeleteLove the picture!! they are absolutely aligned at their back legs... that's amazing. I love to read your blog and see the pics you take. I always like to see what all the animals are "thinking".... LOL.. makes me laugh. I used to live in Edgewood, and now am in Phoenix. I miss the beauty of the New Mexico mountains. Come visit at my blog, Comancheshadow, sometime... Shadow D.............
