(Update) Checkin' fence with Lyle...I Lovett
Today's top 10 reasons why I love my horse:
1. He didn't think about moving while I tacked him up.
2. He didn't worry about what he was missing back at the barn.
3. He didn't try to start any arguments.
4. He didn't care about his rowdy friend back in the corral who wouldn't settle down and kept calling for him over and over and over again.
5. He trotted straight on a big sloppy rein despite a distracting bunch of cows under the trees.
6. He patiently waited while I watched a hawk fly around.
7. He didn't spook when we encountered antelope #1.
8. He didn't spook when we encountered antelope #2.
9. He didn't spook when I spooked when the big ass owl flew out of the tree right next to us.
10. He spooked in place when he farted so loud he scared himself, and it made me laugh out loud.
I'm adding this not-so-great shot of the antelope. By the time I fumbled around pulling my point-and-shoot out of the case, it had moved on a ways. Guess I can add a #11 here: Lyle stood patiently while I fumbled around trying to take pictures of an antelope.

Thanks for the laugh on the last one. I'm glad you had a great time with Lyle...
ReplyDeleteYep, that last one made me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a good boy!
Oh, man! I wish I had a horse like that (a non-spookable one)! Beauty is pretty calm and I should be able to ride her again in another month! I'm counting the days!
ReplyDeleteOk. #10 made me have a teeth exposing laugh. Unfortunately, that was the same time my dog cut the cheese. God, I hope it doesn't stick to my teeth!
ReplyDeleteHehe, how adorable.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, but Lyle is a beautiful horse! And so well behaved from the sound of it.
Let's hope Lyle II continues on this tack and doesn't start emulating Lyle 1's 1992 single:
ReplyDelete"You've Been So Good Up to Now"
That's very funny and a great list. At least you know he's got good hearing!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! That's quite the horse (typical guy!) What a good boy, I just had a similar ride on my boy Sunnie this past Saturday. :)
ReplyDeleteha ha too funny. I have learned so much about animals of all sorts from your wonderful saga of life at 7MSN. Thanks always.
ReplyDeleteAnd you made ME LOL too! I can see why you love that horse. He's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteI've been a lurker, but I love your blog. I had to comment on this one though...I know exactly how you feel. It's the simple and funny things my horse does that makes me love him.
ReplyDeleteSnort! I loved all of these. You have a wonderful horse-friend.
ReplyDeleteThis Post....I Lovett!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, couldn't resist :)

I laughed until I cried and had to read your list out loud to my husband. I didn't know horses could fart loudly. I thought they always just go WHOOOSH!
ReplyDeleteHe's a keeper, that Lyle! :) Glad you had a good ride on your boy....did you snap any photos of that wildlife? Do you ride with your DSLR? I haven't figured that one out yet.....
ReplyDeleteWow! Didn't shy at the antelope? Mine would have been in the next county.
ReplyDeleteNo better partner can I think of...well, maybe smooch, but it is a close race....He is great.
ReplyDeleteThat has got to be the funniest thing ever! Bombproof, until he lets out his own stink bomb! Oh, Lyle, you are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Lyle did #10 just to get his own proud woman blog post. :)
ReplyDeleteJust for you, Pony Girl, I'll go back and add the antelope picture. I usually don't take my camera on rides – never the DSLR, and only the old crappy point and shoot when I do. Riding Hank or Lyle usually demands my full and undivided attention. Lyle has been acting so sensible lately, I thought I'd give it a try this time.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a good ride on Lyle.
ReplyDeleteIt always makes a pleasant warm feeling in my heart when I get good rides on my horses.
Lyle's become a cool cowboy horse, by the sound of things. Unruffled and relaxed. I would add one more item to your list: He has movie star good looks. :o)
ReplyDeleteI got such a laugh out of this! And I think #10 could be on the list of You Know You're Daydreaming Too Much When:
ReplyDeleteWhat a good boy!! I chuckle every time one of them farts and scares themselves.
ReplyDeleteOh, still a great shot....I posted today about wild donkeys in Colorado...thought you might like the story...you may even know the story!
ReplyDeleteI'm lookin' at those ears........yup there's an antelope out there!
ReplyDeleteI have to say: This account of just ridin' around lookin' at stuff is the first thing ever to make me feel like riding a horse would be a fun thing to do!
ReplyDelete....despite the...erm...effervescence...
ReplyDeleteaw, he is a sweet horse.
ReplyDeleteLOL! So he is not afraid of wild animals running about but his farts scare him :) Hehehehehehe!
