I did not haul a trailer to the BLM auction on Friday because we all know what would have happened. I just went there to have a little fun, take a few hundred pictures, and make some new friends. And it was so easy. I just sat myself down in the dirt and waited.
Come on, guys, you're supposed to be wild, not silly.
I do not need another horse...I do not need another horse...
Oh, no. Here comes that little blue roan again.
...but did you take him home?
ReplyDeleteHi Linda: Looks like a fun day at the sale. I would have had trouble leaving them behind with those take me home eyes. Your pictures are always the best. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSandra
My goodness, such restraint! Beautiful pix.
ReplyDeleteHow can you resist faces like that? I would have probably gone home and gotten the trailer!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful animals! I got a kick out of how interested they were in you ... HA! Neat that you made the paper, but I don't see your ponytail holder that you got in Santa Fe.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how curious they are! I think sitting yourself there in the dirt was a great way to get some interesting shots. It was hard just looking at the photos of their cute faces and heads...and for $125, I would have wanted to at least take a couple. Sigh. Great article, how cool you were featured!
ReplyDeleteThey don't LOOK wild. They look pretty curious and friendly...
ReplyDeleteSo, did you go back later with the trailer....
ReplyDeleteLove the silly horse sticking it's tongue out!
The only thing that would have stopped me from loading up a few of these guys is the intimidation factor of training a wild horse. In the near future, I'll be looking for a "mild horse". But expect to see me at a wild burro auction sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, they're so sweet, I love them all!
ReplyDeleteLisa Paul, I'm counting on you to get those wild burros. You will be able to tame them in no time...really!
ReplyDeletePat, I was wearing my new ponytail holder - honest! It just didn't show up very well in the paper.
And Winifred and Tracey, I did not go back later with the trailer, as much as I wanted to. I don't want to spread my attention any thinner than it is to the ones I've got.
OK...the newspaper said you adopted one....and newspapers don't tell stories...only print the truth!
ReplyDeleteColoradolady, me thinks you read the article too fast - the woman who adopted the horse has the same initials but a different name.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Both of the horses and of you photographing the horses.
ReplyDeleteAwww geez, that's so cute! I love that! And it's a blue roan, not a grey. Sigh... too cute. I want I want, I do not need... I do not even attend such events anymore. I simply cannot stand it and I'd bid no matter what. You have mucho self control.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post :)
PS - I am now of the opinion that all horses just stick their tongue out at your camera. I cannot imagine how many horse tongue pics you have..
ReplyDeleteI love that blue roan too, good thing I wasn't there or we'd have another pasture puff hanging around here.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought the same thing as Coloradolady, but then I knew my Linda wouldn't do anything that foolish (well, sort of knew );-)
ReplyDeleteSo neat that you were in the paper! Fun pics too... And I'm proud of your restraint. It is important to not spread yourself so thin.
ReplyDeleteI'd also have to disagree on the Gray vs. Blue Roan (nicely disagree) -- Blue Roan's faces stay dark while the body lightens... Grays lighten especially in the face as obvious of that little guy. Never the less, he's adorable! http://www.grullablue.com/colors/roangenetics.htm
And...If you google blue roans, check out the images! They're gorgeous horses!
Sorry... But I think I posted the wrong link on blue roan vs. gray -- here's the correct one! :D

Oh my. How could you let that blue roan go? I would've been dust I'll tell ya!! Great pictures. And cool article too. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! I am very impressed. You showed such fortitude and gritty determination to resist temptation. They are really lovely. I hope they went to loving homes where they'll be unmercifully spoiled.
ReplyDeleteI love that you got your picture in the paper. That's awesome! What lengths you'll go to for a photo! :o)
The blue roan was the one I fell for in your previous post - how on earth did you resist him? I would not have been able to :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to start going to the local adoptions, armed ONLY with a camera, too! I will repeat the matra: I do not need another horse, I do not need another horse!
ReplyDeleteI'd have been toast there and coming home with at least two! Probably the little bay in the first photo, and the carrot top blue-eyed one!
ReplyDeleteOh MY!!!! Thank god i live a couple of time zones away and only have so much property, I would have taken all 30 I would not have been able to choose, they are simply FABULOUS. What gorgeous horses, and nice pictures Linda, thank you!
ReplyDeleteoh they are so cute and don't look wild at all
ReplyDeleteOh my, how beautiful they are. Must have been a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see them running wild on the range. Beautiful creatures!!!!
I love all of the pics of them and the one in the newspaper is great! I would have had a hard time walking away too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are all saying "Pick Me! Pick Me!" You are brave. I've not spent much time at auctions; I'd want to bring everyone home too.
ReplyDeleteLovely, beautiful faces...you have such will power!!! Great post!
