The BLM is holding an auction in Albuquerque this weekend, with about 70 of its wild horses. Can you believe they didn't bring a single burro? The nerve. I drove up early this morning to watch the goings on. It was magical, and I could not stop taking pictures.
It's going to take a few days to sort through everything I took, so look for a whole stream of pretty horses next week.
And maybe...just maybe...I also will have some wild horses to show you who aren't penned up. I got the lowdown from one of the BLM guys on where to go looking for the herd that roams south of the 7MSN, and that's where I'm headed tomorrow.
They sure are beauties, but the second picture is really neat. I think she/he wanted to go home with you!
ReplyDeletegreat photos, I love any photo with a horse in it, or burro of course...
ReplyDeleteI've went to a BLM Auction a few years ago when I was seriously considering adopting a mustang, something I'd still like to do one of these days!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! Can't wait to see more.
Very cool. I love the grey (blue roan?) in the first picture. Can't wait to see more! Have a great trip tomorrow, hope you find the wild ones! Use that big lens! ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! I am madly in love with that blue roan! Looking forward to all your great photos! Good luck with getting pics of the free ones. I've been wanting to do a horse painting, but have been looking for the right photo to work from - something completely wild and untamed...I'll know it when I see it.
ReplyDelete:-)
I'm not sure I'm brave enough (or skilled enough) to take on a wild horse. But just how "wild" are wild burros? That I might do.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics... Commenting from a phone much smarter than I... My husbands and I'm four hours from home...
ReplyDeleteWhat's this world coming to?
I love that last shot. Who's looking at who? I'm envious and excited about your trip into the wilds to track horses. I'm also looking forward to seeing more photos from the auction.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice photo, so many colours!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda: Will we see a new 4 legged addition to your family after this weekend. The wild ones are so beautiful. I hope they all find good homes.
ReplyDeleteBest always,
Sandra
They are BEAUTIFUL! Look at the long mane on one of them! Sometimes we visit the BLM corrals up in Ridgecrest, CA. It is hard to come home without 2 or 3 of them!
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding the Mustangs.. I look forward to seeing what pictures you post. They are such magnificent creatures..
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart!
ReplyDeleteThose beauties seem in wonderful condition. Amazing pictures.
Pick me up that grey in the second pic, would ya? I'll trade for Sugarfoot :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I drove through an area yesterday that had wild horses, but couldn't find hide nor hair- only droppings!
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures, Linda!!! Wild mustangs are beautiful in their own, carefree, high spirirted, wild way. They have thier own unique look, I think.
ReplyDeleteThose horses are beautiful. How can they even consider rounding them up and putting them in pens and maybe even slaughtering them because they have too much horse and not enough room. I'm surprised you didn't come home with a few. I know if it was me I couldn't have resisted I'm such a sucker for a sweet face and kind eye.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Great photos! I love the little gray in the second one. Are you sure you didn't buy her?
ReplyDeleteI love the second shot especially - what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos but I love the 2nd one with the gray taking a peek at you!
