A still Sunday

When I looked out the window this morning, two things were obvious: the wind was not blowing amen and my horses were very tired. I decided to go play "how close can I get before they wake up."

Hank and Lyle were out for the count. The wind has been blowing hellatiously and finally stopped for a few hours. This was the first time all week they could really relax and stop worrying about predators they couldn't hear because of the wind.

All was peaceful until Lyle farted as only horses can and Hank decided he had to get out of that wind.

  1. Boy do I hear you here! The horses are all snoozing & destressing today here as well since the past two days was nothing but strong winds and hail!

  2. I was getting all sentimental and starry eyed over those sweet sleeping boys till your last sentence jarred me back to reality :)

  3. It sure does look like they're exhausted in those first few pictures, but then when I read what happened I was laughing myself silly and the look on Hank's face in the last picture just made me loose it!!!

  4. Great pictures of the hossies.

Poor things must have been exhausted.

  5. I love the nose in the dirt, like it's such an effort to keep their heads up. The last pic is pretty funny - total disgust.

  6. Sweet sleepin babies. I've never seen horses laying/sleeping in an open field... I wonder what they were dreaming about. It's funny they have the exact same positions in each photo.

Hmmmm.. I'm a good alarm clock. heeehhee

  9. I have 4 and about midmorning everyday they lay themselves out for naps. One of them always stands guard though. It's usually Jr first and then I'll see Finski get up and then Jr. will lay down. My two younger ones just keep sleeping and I've never seen them take a turn, the lazy sots! LOL!

  10. It looks like Hank is trying to keep his big nostrils closed. LOL They look so sweet and cuddly with their sleepy eyes.

  11. What a riot. They do look exhausted with their chins in the dirt. I was wondering what Hank was doing with his nose in Lyle's backside.

  12. I love this blog--never know what to expect. And you are right about horse patooties--they can signal the end of the world!

  15. Whenever my horses lie down in the field, I always have a small moment of panic until I realize that they're just napping. Then, I feel really glad that they are secure enough to be able to relax and sleep outside. Maybe Lyle thought that if he made a big enough stinky, you'd go away and let them nap all day.
