Every morning, there's a tiny window of opportunity just before the sun comes up behind the mesa when the sky looks like this (if you happen to be playing with your new lens that makes it seem like you're standing very close to the gate).
And if I run real fast to the other side of the corral to watch the light reflect off the mountains, this is the view.
But then the sun is up, the window of opportunity is gone,
and I'm left with nothing to look at but this.
You can probably guess which is my favorite view.

Here it's the evening light on the mountains, but I love it. There is nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteLove your playing with your lens!!
It is all so beautiful, how blessed you must feel.
ReplyDeleteI love sunrises, beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteLove this selection of shots, well done.

Beautiful shots! I love the colors & composition of the third one.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new lens and happy playing. Good job so far!
ReplyDeleteAll the pictures are awesome, but that last one is THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures all of them and of course the last is your favourite.
ReplyDeletethree beautiful shots and each with its own merit. and i would probably venture to say the last is your favorite as it has your darling furry friends in it ^..^
ReplyDeleteWe all agree that we love you playing with your new lens, Linda!
ReplyDeleteIf presented with the windows of opportunity, I would go for the first one and then enjoy the third for the remainder of the day!
Greetings from West Africa,
Esther
Great shots with your new lens! Love the second with the morning light on the hill. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe first two photos are gorgeous. but I notice you can see the mountains through the doorways even as you're watching the animals eat. That's pretty special, too, I think.
ReplyDeleteAll good but I bet the last one is your favorite spot to hang out.
ReplyDeletethat is some dramatic color on the second shot; wow.
ReplyDeleteThe four-legged one? Is that your fave? Skies are nice, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at how fast the sky can change--it all depends on the light! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are upping the ante with that new lens. And it's not quite fair since you also have those beautiful Southwestern skies. Nothing quite like them.
ReplyDeleteThese are all very nice. The one at the bottom has most intrest to me. I just love animals. And the mountain/hills showing trough the animalshelter. Very nice. Happy SWF!
ReplyDeleteHee-hee,
ReplyDeleteWhen Bruce and I visit our ranch we are so silly in the morning when we first see the bright sunshiney day. We are heard to comment over and over, with false disgust in our voices, "Oh crap, it's sunny AGAIN! Look what we have to put up with!".
You must remember, until we get to our new home in NM, we live in Washington state, which is located in the Pacific NorthWET.

Terrific shots, beautiful skies! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. And they all look so warm, especially as it is only 12F at my house. Oh to see the sun like that!
ReplyDeleteI CAN guess what is your favorite view. They would be mine as well.
ReplyDeleteThey're all great looking views to me! Much better than city scenes, in my opinion!!! Look at those mountains - Gorgeous! Even the little bit I can see through the openings in the stalls! *Sigh*
ReplyDeleteTrade ya views.
ReplyDeleteyour photos are great, I would have to say my favorite is the one with your animals, the sky is so blue
ReplyDeleteI love the sunrise mountain, what a pity that that is such a subliminal effect. I bet the third is your fave, and no wonder, all those friends in glorious morning light.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, a very unique and love the sky... keep sharing for more!

Very nice!! Glad you are enjoying the new lens!
ReplyDeleteIt seems a little redundant to keep commenting on how beautiful the skies are in New Mexico, but they are, I love the bluest blues but that first picture is really awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou had to work for those shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series. That last photo is just stunning. The animals look like a picture book illustration. Very sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe second shot took my breath away...
Great dawn shots.
ReplyDeleteYour herd is always fun to see. The mountain shot though, wow!
