Dog is my co-pilot

Saturday dawned too cold and snowy to ride, so I decided to make the trek to town for provisions. Smooch came along to navigate.

From the moment we leave the garage, Smooch takes her job as co-pilot very seriously.

I've explained to her time and time again that getting out to open the gate is part of her job description, but she claims "gate valet" is beneath her.

Ya think we can stop and get this tank washed? I can barely see around the paw prints.

Down the road we go, with Smooch focused on the task at hand. What could she be thinking about?

We pause at the top of Steep Rocky Hill to take a picture...and a deep breath. I hate this hill - you can't see the bottom when you're at the top and, well, it's steep and rocky.

This hill, I don't mind as much.

This view and my trusty co-pilot make the drive to town almost enjoyable...I said almost. We were going to Walmart, after all, and that is never fun. But come back tomorrow to see where we went when we left Walmart.

  1. I love Smooch.

Your pictures are perfect proof that "it is the journey, and not the destination" that counts."

Particularly when the destination is WalMart.

  3. Smooch is really adorable. That is one scary hill, but it's a nice view. Who knows what Smooch is thinking, she's probably hoping you're on the way to get some yummy dog treats for her or that she could drive that hill better than you.

  4. I'm a lifelong Snoopy fan, so that pic with the Flying Ace gear made me smile this morning. I want to smooch Smooch, such a cutie!

  5. I'd be nervous on that hill! The vista is breathtaking, and Smooch is certainly dedicated. The look in her eye reminds me of Kyra, our female Corgi.

  6. Aw...love the Smooch with the Flying Ace gear, heehee. Cloud is the exact same way in the car - so very business-like! It's so cute when they act like that. Thanks for taking us along for the drive!

  7. Smooch is definitely a cutie pie. Don't tell her I said so. She is much more serious than a cutie pie.

Tell her if she sits in the middle that she's not expected to open the gate. It's that sitting shotgun that makes you a gate opener.

  8. Totally reminded me of Snoopy! :) It's so pretty there when it snows. I have that cowgirl air freshner hanging in your review mirror, too! ;)
    What'd you get at Wallyworld?

  9. Pony Girl, I love my air freshener...once it doesn't smell anymore! This is my second one, and I hung it in the garage first, until it didn't smell anymore. The fragrance is supposed to be "campfire ashes" - smells just like stinky tennis shoes, imho.

  17. You have wonderful views of the Sangre de Cristo's. So beautiful expecially with snow on them. I love the determined and stoic look of your pup. The goggles and cape? Hilarious!

  18. Great pictures. You did have a lot of snow. We only got some cold wind. I think I would rather have snow than just cold wind. But I don't have the hills you do. Looks like fun driving.

  19. That is the look of total concentration. She looks like she is just waiting for a bunny rabbit to pop out of the snow needing to be chased!

  20. Oh my gosh, Smooch - you good girl! Being co-pilot is, indeed, a very serious job. Don't you pay a bit of attention to anybody who teases you about this. I know how much effort you are putting into keeping Linda safe. :-)
